Here is my first grow journal and also my first grow. I am also a proud owner of a medical marijuana card, so this is a legal grow too!!!
Medium: Fox Farm Ocean Forest, but I started in cheap soil. Growing in 5 gal buckets, with hydroton balls at the bottom for good drainage, and some on the top to help keep the soil from being disturbed when I water. Using Fox Farm nutes ¾ strength following light schedule.
Light: 600x MH/HPS switchable ballast. I have a Hortilux HPS in there right now.
Room: 3ft x 4ft x 6 ½ ft.
Fans: I have one 400 cfm fan for exhaust one oscillating fan to move air around, and a 4 in fan to bring in fresh air.
Seeds: Nirvana’s Northern Lights Feminized.
Water: Distilled water
Alright here we go I started on 6/5/10 with ten seeds. I over watered them and killed all but two of them before they could break ground. So luckily I had 10 more seeds on the way from Nirvana.
6/24/10 That is when my new seeds broke the dirt. All ten germinated and broke dirt so now I think I am doing ok. Here are some pictures of them at 4 days old. In my CFL seedling box under 700 total watts.
I thought I was doing fine but then my leaves started to curl and get some brown/yellow spots on them. So I tested my ph of my water and it was 5.0 and my runoff was bad too! They were still in the shitty soil. So I ran up to my horticulture store and got my FFOF soil and transplanted them into bigger pots and got them under my big light.
Before good soil and good PH
After transplant.

Here they are 7/21/10 six days after transplanting them! Bounced right back.
The big one is the survivor of my fist botched grow. I picked my six best ones and fim'd three of them and topped the other three. I have read up on both of them so I am going to try a side by side on them. I only have pruned dead or problem leaves. Here are some pics.
Three days later on the new growth
They were around 40 days old and between 14-16 inches. I gave them a 24 hr dark period before switching them to flower. Within two days one had white hairs showing and now 4 days into flowering 4 have pistils. I just hope they don't go hermi on me from that early PH stress I put them through! Here are some current pic's.
four days into flowering plants are 44 days old.
The tall one on the end is 21 inches tall and It is the morning of the fourth day of flowering so it stretched 5 inches in three days. They love the Hortilux bulb! I will be posting pictures every week so feel free to track my grow. And any comments are welcome. I will be posting wet weight and dry weight of my harvest. It will be interesting to see what produced more, topped or fim'd plants.
