First Grow: Got a Question.

Alright, so I started my greminated seeds in a plastic cup right under a small 60 watt closet light for about 1 week and then transplanted them outside because I cant exactly set up a grow room where I live, and the 60 watt light isnt going to cut it. It's been about 3 weeks now and the plants are about 5-6 inches tall with the second set of leaves growing good(not including the curved ones that come out of the shell). My question is: should my plants be farther along than they are or am I just getting too anxious? I am watering them about every other day at the most with no fertalizer. Also, I am getting the water right out of the tap and they seem to handle it fine. Could this cause them to grow slower? Any ways to speed up growth? Fertalizer?

If they are 5-6 inches tall with only their second set of leaves... then they are stretched. What kind of light is it? If its a regular light bulb... then its not the right kind of light and that would explain the stretching. You need flouros, CFLs, MH or HPS lighting.

They'll be ok, no reason to give up.

so would you say they are growing at a good rate or are they growing slow?

No offense man but unless you live in an area that is tropical/equatorial i don't think your plants will grow through November and December weather unless they are inside. If you are though, then best of luck to you.

Thats kind of what I was thinking but figured I would try since I've never done this before. Around where I live though it doesnt drop below freezing until late December/early January. I can wear shorts on Christmas Day if that says anything.

to be honest you should just set a grow room up bc i dont think that they will grow good outside...especially if its a little cold.. thats just my opinion

trust me, I would love to set up a grow room but that definitely isnt possible when you live with your parents. I guess ill just have to wait and try again for real in the spring. Ill keep the plants I have as long as they can stay alive, but ill keep you guys posted.
