first grow, harvest question

as i said this is my first grow and i have a microscope but im having an extremely hard time deciphering betwwen clear and milky tricomes.. what do you all think? i do not know what strain it is, or how long its been flowering as i didnt know to keep track of that...

Hiya Firsttimer92, Can't you remember when(roughly) you switched to 12/12(knowing the Strain Helps..some can be 8wks Flowering others much longer 12 or more)

or are they Autos??

Lots of Peeps go for between Milky to Amber...

What kinda Scope you using? how powerful?

From the little I know
Amber is natures way of showing that THC is starting to degrade
So, when Amber starts to show, you've taken those buds to the top of the mountain
and it is time to end their expedition there
on the highest peak of their THC journey.

80/20% (Clear/Amber) is the ratio I recall reading several times.

I bought a £5 microscope (X 60 with LED light).

When I first tried using it I thought I'd bought the kind of useless Chinese made tat that goes in a Christmas Cracker or Kinder Surprise Egg
I WAS WRONG
After further attempts I can now see the tiniest downy blond hair on my finger looking like a fibre optic cable
it's a fantastic little gadget and I heartily recommend one to any person who wants to judge the best time to harvest - based on the colour of their plants trichomes.

OK so don't just look at trichs..look for your plant to start losing color and generally looking like its dying off, you will get a large swell in the buds as they ripen or plump up. Now instead of liking for colors, you can look at the trichs for capitate stalked trichs which are long and they sometimes bend all over..if you see trichs that are clearly extra long it means you are at least within about the least two Weeks because those do not start to show until the end of flower..you will have to learn to feel it out but I never could really tell just by looking at trich color either

i really dont know the strain, they were given to me by a friend and i know that he had them flowering before i acquired them.. they werent very healthy when i got them because of neglect.

i have had them 3wks

i have a 60-100x
