First Grow in 20 Years

So this will be my first grow in 20 years!!! Been lucky enough to have had access to incredible high end anytime I have wanted since I was 18, and have literally been perpetually stoned since, bongsmilie but just moved to Rio and the stuff here that I can get my hands on is ABSOLUTE CRAP!! I would take a pic but I am ashamed of the dirt I am smoking and that honestly I am still thrilled to have it. I came down to my home here after 5 months in the States and my favorite Jasmine plant was all but dead, so I took it upstairs, gave it some water every day, miracle grow once or twice, and a month later it was a bush and after 6 weeks I was getting flowers. Shit just seems to GRROOOWWW HERE So I thought.. hmmm… have a good friend who has a very private home on the foothills of the mountains with lots of land, a fresh running stream, waterfalls, beautiful papaya, avocado, bananas, cocoa, guavas, orchids, vegies, herbs, etc already growing there so why not add something REALLY worthwhile. 1 convo later with him and I was online doing my research. Found this site which further inspired me (bless you all) and decided on attitude seeds and this grouping.

5 Each
Automatic AK47 Auto flowering Hybrids (Fem)
G13 LABS POWER SKUNK (Reg) FREE

1 Each
Seedsman White Widow (Fem)
Paradise White Berry (Fem)
BIG BUDDHA Cheese (Fem)
DURBAN POISON (Fem) FREE
Northern Lights (Fem) FREE

I wanted something quick, and nothing too massive that will get him in trouble. (have told him 100 times already about the need for pulling a Sargeant Schulz and I already created an entire code based on Fantasy football to communicate using) Ordered late yesterday night and they seemed awesome, good karma when he kept saying on the phone “no worries” and made me think of the 4 months I spent running around Australia with an 18 yr old cheerleader I talked into taking a semester off of school to travel with me :hump:

Anyway going to try and get the AK47 up fast since it will get me my own stash quik and hold me over to some bigger plant harvests. Will have some questions on advice for cloning something that finishes veging so quickly on the auto AK47 as it gets going. Sounds like a plant I want to get a few harvests out of if possible. :weed:

Next question for now is I was thinking of taking the free skunk seeds and planting them in a group of 2 and 3 and hoping I get seeds galore out of one group and pull any males from the other. So the question is any advice on how far to keep a group from one another to keep one group from fertilizing both groups?

I have a good feeling on the white berry so may start that up right away also. Any timing advice onstarting the whiteberry, Durban, northern lights? Am I too late to start on any?? Any better advice on what to start now?? Here it would be the equivalent of end of May in Havana-Miami weather.

Thanks… hopefully I get the seeds in a week… Attitude was awesome on the phone and hope I can tell you guys great stuff about them. Will get as many pics as I can although will be hard to visit my guys more than once every 2-3 weeks. Again this will be at a friends house who speaks a language I am first learning so I will be translating to him what I learn. Hopefully you guys show me the same patience I will probably need with him.

All the best!!

This is what I have been reduced to, this is why I will grow!!! So let it be written, so let it be done!!

So my original tracking number from attitude seeds was wrong but I called them and they gave me a new one which is showing up shipped. All good so far.

"WTF is that"

Exactly!!! Maybe the worst picture ever posted on this site and yet truthfully I am happy to have it. This is a freaking tradgedy that even Shakespeare couldn't have dreamed of. Believe it or not that is much better than what I got the last couple of times.

Craziest part is the growing conditions here are beyond spectacular. I am now on a mission to fulfill my needs.

Sounds like you have some good friends and have a good plan.

You won't be able to clone the autoflowering plants to use for perpetual grows, you can only grow them from seed to get Buds. If you clone one ( Its totally possible) it will not veg and will not grow much bigger, as soon as the parent plant flowers, so too will the clone and eventually their will be an end stage of life for the plant.

MJ pollen can spread for miles, if you have ANY males growing you need to cull them right away or even the plants on the other side of the farm could be nothing but seed. If you want to make seed you will need to grow the males indoors and collect their pollen in paper bags which you then can use to cover certain branches of the female plants. Thereby controlling how much and what is being pollinated. Just 1 branch of an outdoor plant can produce thousands of seeds.

That brick(Could you build a house out of those?) of weed you showed actually looks like it was good weed, albeit poorly treated and not trimmed worth a shit.

Good Luck on your grow!!

Much appreciate the input. Truth is when I took a closer look at the photo I said the same thing to myself. Somewhere compressed in that shows some decent characteristics. Stuff gets me rather nicely buzzed too, it is much better than some of what I have gotten here.

Thanks for the info on the autoflowering I was wondering a bit about the clone, I was concerned about going off such a short veg period but what you say about it maintaining the same genetics to the point the clone cut tries to flower as the original plant makes quite a bit of sense. As for the pollen thing I was thinking the other side of a freakin mountain. Truth is I’m leaning now towards cloning the WW and White Berry and yanking any skunk males. The AK47xLowrider is really just to get myself some nice quality while the rest matures. Figure getting that keeps me from being an impatient bastard and digging into the real harvest before I cure it properly.

This is what I bought for cloning. My Portuguese sucks but I think he got what I was asking for when he pulled some bamboo shoot cuttings out of the water and pointed to the roots and said something about new.

Maybe someone that gets the chemistry will tell me if this is any good.

It's Sulfur, Boron, Chlorine, Iron, Zinc.

I'm pretty sure it is weed. And thats just a stem or two compressed in there nicely. Scary thing is blood gets spilled over this stuff down here in a big way every day. Great movie recommendation... Elite Squad.

I am looking forward to getting started and having some wacky delicious bud once again... Tied down my basil plants at sunset as a test and those things are already turning up. I like the LST idea, I think I will be forever greatful to this site for that one.

Looks like that Biofert Raiz stuff is just a fertilizer for micronutrients, looks like it probably has vitamins and stuff, but the active ingredient in cloning gels/powders is Indole-3 Butyric Acid. That is the hormone that really jump starts the rooting process. I don't see that listed on your pic of the stuff you got, it may still work. I don't do portugese real well, but I got a clue of the basic premise of what that is from reading it and it looks to me like its just micro nutes and vitamins for good root growth.

No Drama... Thanks once again. Today I found willow branches and I heard I can cook those down to get a broth of natural cloner, so I will look more into that as the time comes. Right now if this works I don't think I'll mind ordering a bunch next year.

Well today, exactly 7 days after they received my order, my seeds arrived in Rio. I'm very impressed with that at the moment. :weed:

Trying to tell the doorman that a package was coming for me and to whatever you do not give it to my wife was a treat for me to try in portuguese. Fortunately a neighbor understood what the hell I was trying to say and explained to them for me. "a surprise present for the wife, whatever you do, do not give her any package that arrives"

Awesome!!!

Well to update my journal for my own future reference. I may have plants in the ground or may not. My buddy definitely read the instructions but since he is away til the 5th of January I am not sure he started. Going to be one damn short outdoor veg period at this rate. Well I did towel germinate some hot pepper plants which are already about 6 leaves out and growing like mosters. Nothing compared to the basil plant I did an LST practice run on and just bushed out on me in a week. Now playing with aggressively pruning it every two nodes to watch the growth. Silly growing conditions here, never ceases to amaze me.

Well at worst another week or so tilthis gets growing. Short season or not.

Yesterday 4 very special little seeds were placed in their paper towels and given the opportunity to begin life. All feminized, and in their new names one of each of the following; Branco Aranha, Luz do Norte, BrancoBerry, and Queijo.

We scouted out some spots and found quite a few plants, particularly bamboo, that look incredibly like marijuana plants before they flower and I explained to my friend about using them for camouflage. He loved the idea and I got a laugh out of looking like a genius thanks to RIU. The bamboo leaves look a lot like sativa so I think for the next grow I will focus on those, which yield wise and high wise makes me happier anyway. Also realized that there are already so many damn flowers there that it has to mask the smell a decent bit. Either way it is far enough from where anyone will go. It is the tropical rainforest so a bit more canopy than you can do anything about but it’s the top ridge of a hill under a giant Eucalyptus tree and should get a good few hours a day of direct sun but not all day, which I think may not be a bad thing considering just how hot it can get here some days. He also had these coco roots around for growing his orchids and I think we are going to shred that up a bit for its early growing medium mix. In the mean time we will start improving the soil in the grow area. Mostly compost and some cow shit well mixed in a few weeks before planting. Dirt should be good there anyway as there were beetles, ants, and other shit creeping all over the place. Big fucking red ant even bit me hard when I guess I got to close to his house. All those here with pitbulls. :finger: I got motherfuckin homicidal Brasilian rainforest ants like they make movies about protecting my shit. Now to get some piranhas, maybe even piranhas with freakin laser beams!!

Been quite some time since this project started for me. The initial attempt did not go so swimmingly. All 5 plants that I tried starting at my friends home turned into a delightful salad for some fuckin insects the first day that they came up. Since the season is backwards down here it became too late to start again. Well on my return trip to the states I had Attitude seeds send about 40-50 seeds to my parents house awaiting for my arrival. hehe.. how they would have loved a visit from the police... ROFLMAO!! Oh was it also fun getting off the plane and having my luggage be the only one pulled for inspection by customs in Rio. I was carrying so much crap for my home in there and they were so confused by it all that they just let me through..whew!

So since it was early for my real plants (Greenhouse Sativa fem 10 pack, Kiwi seeds Mt. Cook) I also bought 10 lowriders that have non-hybridized genetics to allow me to make seeds. Well back to my friends house in the jungle...the ones in the earlier pictures…. Now I also bought those little tomato starter discs and made a nice mix of soil with vermiculite, lime, nutrients, hummus etc… the scientist side of me loves this part. Since there is a language barrier for me and my buddy I gave it all to him ready to go... and started the seeds in the discs. Here in Brasil he never saw the discs so he was horrified to start them without me. Well slow start but all good so far.

3 weeks later I stopped by his place and saw the babies all growing and almost killed him. He lives in the freakin jungle but was paranoid anyway, so he had them growing inside his window and they were stretching like hell. A good slap across the face transcends language barriers, I guess, and I had to explain to the person that has more plants than you can imagine, the importance of direct sunlight. OK so I propped these babies up and hoped for the best… since this post has been devoid of pics I’ll save the week later results for a few days

So as I loved hearing as a child… tune in later.. same bat time.. same bat channel!!!!!!!!!

Oh and I have been real careful posting here so my wife doesn't see. She might figure out why I am really looking at farmland every weekend.

shortly I begin the monsters, waiting for the days to begin lengthening (June 23rd here)

:peace: :bigjoint:
