First grow in a while...little help here...

Humidity has been anywhere from 60-78%, but typically hovers 70-75%. Temps have ranged from 68-75*. Seeds germed fine. A couple are starting show through the soil...I noticed because the seed shell was sticking halfway out of the soil. The taproot looks like it’s securing, but the curve in the root was exposed. I sprinkled a little loose soil over the top and misted the area with ph’d water. I’ve been misting it to keep the top layer of soil moist.

Should I have done something different? I have a 400w led on the seeds @ 36” above pots, but the potentiometer is turned all the way down. Helps w reg temps.

See pics for how they looked prior to dusting over the top w soil: you have to look closely w the second picture to see the husk halfway buried.

Looks fine, if it has issues shedding it's shell you may have to help remove it, but at that humidity it likely won't be an issue.

I'm not a soil grower so I'm not sure how much you want to keep misting it.

I'd think by tomorrow they should be up above the soil

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I’m just gonna be patient and let them do their thing and try not to mess anything up for the time being. Ive been misting no more than 3xs per day (morn/noon/night) just to keep the top soil moist as I’ve had seedlings dry out in the past.

it should be popped out tommorow do not peel the seed off it is like helping amchicken hatch the new seedling gains its first strength by pushing the shell off

This is what they look like today... I can see 7 of 8 sprouts.
Just let them do their thing? I’ve lightly misted to keep shell and topsoil soft/moist

As an aside... I’ve always planted taproot down w little issues—in this grow, I either planted taproot up or sideways as I’ve seen the diagram of the seed progression that’s all over this website (and internet as a whole) that claims TR up is the way to go. Every seed that’s sprouted this far has sprouted with the shell still attached.

Again, thanks for all the input!

I’m sure you know this but..
Misting is good, remember that overwatering stunts growth and can potentially rot the roots and grow fungus gnats in the soil. At this stage they’re really sensitive. My biggest problem is being too impatient, you seem to be doing fine, happy growing ✌️

This seed (taproot and all) came up out of the soil. I made a hole beside it and shoveled carefully into the hole. I then sprinkled some more dirt overtop. Can this little guy make it, or should I start making plans to replace that grow?
