First grow indoors with grow box

So this is my first time every really trying to grow. I had 7 plants when i lived in SD but they were all outdoor plants. I got rid of them so i could move and not worry about them so here we are! Got the idea for my box from youtube (big surprise lol) and went out that day and built it. Its a 4 stand dresser with 3 fans (one intake, one exhast, and a small battery op one to keep air moving over the lights). The inside is coated with survival blanket and i have 4 20w CFLs (2 cool white 6500k, 2 warm white 2700k). My set up is cheap but for my first time i dont think its to bad.

I started this a few days late so heres the quick background:
Planted seed on SEP 23
Seedling broke soil SEP 28
Second set of leaves apper OCT 1

I had a problem with temp at first but fixed that today. My intake fan had a very small area it was drawing air from so the inside temp of the box was sitting between 82 and 88. I made a hood for the intake fan and opened a bigger area for airflow and temps have droped to between 76-79.

I am using lawn and garden starting mix and bonnie plants herb and vegetable plant food (organic) .

So far the sprout looks healthy and strong and is growing fast.
Strain is unknown but the bud i got it from was something that smelled along the lines of ak47 or northern lights. I cant say exactly what it is but it was a good head high so hopefully it turns out nice.

Please if anyone has any advise or ideas or anything let me know!

Thanks man lol so tomorow will be the end of week one for my sprout. Second set of leaves coming in fast as all hell and seems to have grown a bit n the last few days.

Temp went back up into the 80s. Its holding out around 78-81. Not bad but teps were down to 77-79 yesterday so im not sure why they went back up.
Humidity went up for 20-25% to 30-31% not to sure how to raise it any higher (ideas r welcome).

If anyone can answer this itd be awesome lol iv noticed on bottles of nutes they have a set of numbers like 4-4-4. I pretty much get the concept of it but idk what i should get. The bottle i have is 8-4-4 so its 8% N (total) 4% avaiable phosphate 4% soluble potash. Is this ok or what cuz the 8% nitrogen kinda freaks me out and im iffy on using it. Like i said this is my first serious grow to where i want to use nutes now that i have a set up to really make it work so im just lookin for advice on that.

Other than that its lookin pretty good. Hopeing to have it done between the 2nd and 3rd week of december. Strains unknown so thats about what i figure (based off the avaerage of like 65-70 days)

Buy a humidifier, or you can go the cheap way like I did and add bowls of water to your floor base. The more bowls you add the higher your humidity goes.

I had a big ass sponge n a bowl of water n there (tryin to do a swamp cooler thing) but it only took it up like 2% so it wasnt super effective. I didnt even think of a humidifier lol but im not sure how much more shit i can cram n my box hahaha. Thanks for the ideas though. I might try the sponge n water again and see if helps any since i did change the set up slightly

Temp has held out at 79 so far today and humiditys been between 29-31%

Apartments getting inspected tomorow so i guess its time to test the box lol hopefully it works!

They seem to be growing on pace. Veg likes lots of humidity. People say between 50% and 70%. If you have limited space take a look at this. They are crystals that cigar hobiest use to keep there cigar boxes at a high humidity. Its pretty cheap. Heres a link

Sprout as of this morning

So no inspection yesterday (awesome lol) so im still growin. Plants goin good. Pushin about 6 new leaves right now from the looks of it and its all still pretty compact so hopefully it stays that way.

Temp has been between 73-77 (outdoor temp dropped to mid 60s daytime and mid to high 40s at night). Humidity is at 30-31% and holding (placed a small dish of water inside the box). I also turned down my fans to keep temp slightly higher.

Plant should hit 3" today

Today is day 9. Plant is looking awsome and has noticably grown. Second set of leaves are turning into 3 points. It also looks like the third set of leaves is starting to show.

Temp has been sitting at 77 for a while now with humidity between 31-35%

The nodes are starting to space but its goin pretty slow compaired to the rest of the plants growth so im happy with that.

Today is day 10 of my grow. Infos pretty much the same which is good. Box temp is still at 77 and humidity is still around 35%.

Still tryin to get a good answer for nutes so if anyone could help thad be cool lol

I think the plant streched a little but the way the nodes are starting to come out it looks like its not to bad. Might set back my original dates for flowering and harvesting but only by a week or so. Xmas bud!!!! Wooo lol

Damn idk wtf is goin on today. The site wont let me search for ANYTHING right now. Good thing i liked something on here... Fuck. Anywho... Its day 11 and im not really sure if my plant has a problem or not. I actually have (possably) 2 problems right now.

1) the leaves are pointed upwards at almost a 45 degree angle. Not the tips or anything the whole leaf. There still green and all, no burn marks, brown spots or yellowing. Idk kinda strange to me. Never really seen it b4. The plant is starting to push out lots of small leaves and side shoots so maybe its kinda makin room or something? Any ideas would help a lot

2) it looks like theres possable mildew. Iv kinda noticed some very small spots on the soil where it kinda looks like some very very light white fuzzy shit is growin. Nothing i can see on the plant but i know powdery mildew is pretty much like herpies for ur plant lol ill try and get a pic but idk if it will work. Any say on this would b helpfull also. (ways to stop it or if its just active culture from the soil... I have no clue)

Now for the good news!

Temp is still holding at 77. There was about a 4 hr long temp change where it hit 79 and stayed there and then went back to 77. Not sure why it does this but its currently at 77 so im not worried. Humidity has been from 34-37% today so slightly up from the last few days.

I have 2 seeds im tryin to germinate. Not working lol im doin the paper towel method but its pissin me off more than just planting them (which seems to work just about every time for me). So im about to ditch that effort. Its been over a week and they havnt cracked yet.

Awesome im back lol had some internet problems the past few days. So sunday night and monday i decided to give my plant some of the nutes i got to how it would react. I figured of i kill the plant now i lose 2weeks instead of killing it like a month or 2 along. Out come was bad lol yellow spots on 4 leaves so i imediatly ran just streight water threw it. All new growth is uneffected and looks good. Its pushing out its second set of fan leaves already. I am also getting rid of the bottle of nutes i got and finding something else. Any suggestions on a very simple set up?

Temp has been between 77-79 with humidity around 35-43%.

Still lookin for a good nute set up that i want to run but still not really sure what to get. I will also b gone for the next week so i wont post anything. Hopeing the wife doesnt kill the plant either lol but should b noce to come back when its gonna look different. Thats always exciting hahahaha.

I NEED HELP!!! plant is goin down hill and idk whats up with it. Im out of town right now and the wifes watching it for me. She sent me this pic tonight and the new growth is yellowing and turning brown. Idk the climent inside the box but im assuming its still the same as its been. been watering it with just plain ol distilled water (no tap or anything has been run threw it). Im wondering if it could be more nute burn from when i tried out the bottle i had? I talked to a friend and they told me it was a manganes deff but im not sure how acurate that is. IF ANYONE KNOWS PLEASE HELP ME! if it dies i still got 50+ seeds so not super worried but still... Its my baby lol

Im back! So since i last posted iv trimed a few leaves and switched to 12/12 lastnight. Plants lookin ok. Thick stem and lots of small undershoots and leaves. Got liquid iron for it and the leaves have started to turn around.

Temp is 70-81 (depending on the time of day) and humidity is still at 31-35%

shitt. looks like you were using a little too much nutes. i skimmed and scanned so im not sure what soil you use but a lot of soils have enough food for you plants for a couple weeks, you just need to water it. what type of what are you using? it seems like you are pretty competent and attentive so I think you will do just fine, you just need to find whats good for your plants. the leaves pointing up could be a sign of heat stress. 80 F isnt terribly bad but the plant would love life at 70 F or even 65 for that matter. like others said try to get that humidity up. the plant is beginning to breathe through the stomata on the underside of the leaves and you need to be sure the leaves are moist and not dry and crunchy to ensure those stomata pores breathe correctly. keep it goin man.

Hey mcbowl, your setup looks good. Watch the signs of the plants and what you give it like 400aZip said. I have my first grow in a 2 stage stealth box system like yours you should check it out. Good luck dude.
