First Grow Journal

Welcome to my FIRST grow room, and FIRST grow attempt.

I'm using a 400 watt MH on some bagseed, as an experiment, though I have some White Rhino seeds from Nirvana on their way. I made the mistake of adding nutrients to soon to one of my plants, and effectively killed it, I think... One of them are looking extremely healthy, and the other two are kinda, deformed a little. haha.

First pics are up. Im not exactly sure how old the plants are, roughly two weeks. Maybe a little younger.

Unfortunately, those posts are going to lock and you will not be able to edit them after a while.

Keep on growin, I'll post comments here from now on to simplify things.

1 plant per container my friend....looking alright. how close are u keeping the mh? how often do you water? do you plan on transplanting at all? what type of soil? usually they have enough food in for the first month or so if its prenuted soil.

What happened was I ended up throwing a bunch of bagseed into one cup, to see what would pop up. Those two plants barely made it. My rhinos just came, and I just started germination. I think im going to scrap what I have when these little ladies start to break soil.

how close are u keeping the mh? About 15-20 inchs right now.
how often do you water? Daily, Whenever the soil is dry to the touch on top
do you plan on transplanting at all? Yes, into 5 gall buckets most likely with holes drilled in the bottom for aeration and drainage.
what type of soil? Not exactly sure yet.
The babies you see there are going to sadly, be killed. Even the healthy one. I received my feminized seeds, and dont want to risk contaminating my White Rhino Fem babies with bagseed males.

October 3: 6:00 WR begins papertower germination.

October 5: 6:30 WR enters soil.

October 7: 5:30 WR starts breaking and forming cotys.

October 8: 6:00 2 WR have emerged. One died. Two havent came up yet. Only have hope for one of the two left to come up tho.

Note: Probably going to kill off the two older plants for fear of them being male and contaminating the two WR feminized seeds I bought... Any suggestions? :cry::joint::joint:

Nice grow dude you should put the ones you don't want outside and let her go all natural and see what you end up with

It wouldn't hurt to keep those bag seeds around. Unless there is just no room for them....Worst case scenario you find a pair of balls on them in about a month and kill them then just my .02

i agree, you could also build a seperate flowering and vegging/cloning areas. move the older ones into flowering while the new rhinos veg. normally you'd take clones from the first ones when you put them into flower and put the clone in the veg/clone but i'd just wait to take clones till your rhino girls are ready to flower. perpetual grows are great.if its hard to understand what im saying let me know, im fucked up as hell right now lol,

Good advice, get all the practice you can!

I will most likely be keeping the two bag seeders that I have left alive. Two of my Rhinos didnt make it outta the soil for some reason or other, but the two that are out, are healthy, and I still have high hopes for the one rhino whos hiding... Might be a late bloomer, who knows. My two baby rhinos are looking healthy though. More pics and progress around the 16th. Ill probably be adding to my grow room at that point. Im thinking 8 40 watt florescent tubes to make a rectangle around a "mother plant". She will have her own separate room, and it will have 360º lighting.

||f mmm f||
||f mm f||

Where F is the Florescent lights ||and = are walls and M is the mother plant.

CFL bulbs actually work better than flouro tubing. Proximity is key with that light because it only works for a few inches. The only flouros that are decent also cost nearly as much as a MH setup.

Sorry to hear about the plants.

CFL's huh? I can pick some of those up at the hardware store yea? or Lowes or Home Depot?

Outta these two rhinos, one of them are going to become the mother, and never flowered(pity). I hope the other two plants I have going end up female. :)
I've decided not to kill them and take a chance. The room will be for her.

Im looking for some advice on how to construct this room.:wall: Greg, anything?
Im wanting 360º lighting for the mother, and want this room to also house her clones.

Also, is there anything I should know about cloning off of the same plant over and over? Ive heard it can become weaker over time, and i've heard that cloning off of clones will make weaker genetics as well.

I suggest growing them all to be about a month old and then topping and using the top as a clone. If your going to grow a mother plant you got to get cloning in. When the clones establish roots put them in a tub with warm white CFLs in it on a 12/12 schedule to sex them. You can then use the clones to pick the mothers and kill the males. Keeping your flowering plants in with the mothers and clones is a bad idea. Really 2 CFLs in the day light spectrum left on 20/4 in a small mylar lined box will keep a mother alive just fine. Just add ventilation and you have a simple and stealth box for mothers that can be as short as 2-3 foot tall. Dub used speaker boxes and I use tupperware, same job same purpose. I also use a tupperware with CFLs and a seedling tray for my clones. The tupper ware are easy to stack and make them look like typical storage, I have even stored them out in public when guests stop by. No problems with stealth.

Mostly old wives tales, a clone is a genetic duplicate of the mother plant. Typically what I do is keep a mother plant for three months and clone off of it, then I replace it with a clone of itself and it will do the exact same thing as the mother and give clones of the same quality. Typically the bigger the clone the faster they root and are ready to flower, woody clones take longer to root, cuttings taken from lower on a plant will typically root easier, and I'm sure there are plenty of other tips I'm missing for you.

You may want to take a look at Al B Fuct's cloning thread.

Give it a shot and put in the practice.:joint:
