First Grow - Journal

This is the journal of my first grow, will have pictures as it progresses. Hoping to get some good stuff, the weed I got the seeds from was really good, pretty sure the guy I bought it from said it was California Kush or something like that. I'm growing under REALLY low CFL/Sunlight. I have a 15 watt CFL for reptiles and a 26 watt CFL for general lighting. I'm only growing under CFL at night and even then keeping it REALLY close to the plants to prevent stretching. When they get big enough I'm going to transplant them outdoors. Wish me luck! :weed:

Photos of germ/spot outdoors are attached. Only 2 have germed so far. The other 3 are still popping out of their seeds. Should I plant them or wait for the white part to come out more. Also is the white part the root or the stalk of the plant?

Make sure you train them for the sun and don't stick them strait into it, they could burn.
Set them in a shady area for a week or 2 then slowly move them into direct sun.

Thanks for that, I just walked outside a half hour ago immediately after putting the ones that had germed in pots and watering them out in the sunlight on my balcony lol.

Yeah, this is my first time growing outdoors too, and I put them outside without knowing I needed to train them and they burnt like hell lol.
They survived though and are looking good :).

Subscribed, can't wait to see how yours turn out.

Thanks, made sure to put them in moderate shade like you said. Should I leave them like that for 2 weeks or slowly move them to lighter and lighter shade over the course of two weeks?

Slowly introduce them to brighter light, if you see them burning up pull them back in the shade. Some plants are real fussy.

Day 2:
Another seed germinated the entire way (yey!) and I got that planted. Added 80W of Fluorescents to my grow setup and the two that I planted yesterday are breaking the dirt and showing the first signs of those cute little cataledyons or however you spell it. I've got a little grow box set up on a book shelf with a desk fan and a total of 130W of light, think that will be enough for 2-3 plants or should I try to get more?

@California Buds - Thanks for answering that question, I'll be sure to slowly introduce them instead of just waiting two weeds then shoving them in sunlight.

Additionally, I was wondering would it be better to have them under 130W lights when it's slightly cloudy outdoors or should I just go ahead and put them in the slight cloudy shade, I'm worried about humidity and temperature though seeming as I'm in mid/southern FL near the water.

It's raining over here and I still have them outside under my patio, and they're doing fine for me so you should be good.
An inside light can't even come close to comparing to the sun.

Mainly the inside lights are for when I don't have time to move them outside and during the night. I wake up and leave the house at like 6 so it's to early to leave them out because it doesn't get light enough for a good hour and a half, but I get back at like 2:30 so I set them outside until like 7:30ish when it starts to get darker out. So they get around 5 hours of sunlight and the rest is all Fluoros. I've heard a bunch of different stuff about seedling/veg phases. That I should go 20/4 or 18/6 or 24. ATM I'm going 24 but I'm not sure because I've read that they need a little bit of a night time phase. I have a timer and all the incase it is true about the whole night time thing. Idk though lol...

Today the two seeds that where almost done fully germinating got thrown away by my girlfriend (/facepalm) and I think spider mites may have gotten to my all of my seedlings. I'm only 100% sure that only one got hit by them. Luckily today I got around 7 high quality seeds, probably some good kush and around 50 mid seeds so if these seedlings don't make it I'll get some lights and do an indoor grow.
