First grow - made all the mistakes under the sun I think!

Hello, first ever post, first ever grow etc etc!

I wanted to do a bit of an experiment using just LED lights to see if they actually worked or not. I guess I'll let the experts on here determine whether they do! As this is only my first time started very small. So two plants, one is a White Widow, the other...well who knows! Wish i had read up more before I started, and these plants have probably been "through hell" - uncontrolled temperature - ranged from between 15 to 35C, humidity bounces between 35~65%. Started them off in the wrong growing medium, watered with tap water, no nutrients, managed to damage the small roots when I transplanted them...went away for a weekend and didn't water them for 4 days across the hottest summer days in the UK for a while...about the only thing that has been controlled is the lights..they are on a timer at 18/6....

The only thing I can say is that the LED's do seem to work very well - these are 150W 9 band units with a switch between almost all red (of varying wavelengths) and a more spread spectrum output containing blue, orange and green - to date have only used the "spread" setting..even though camera looks like its mostly purple in actual fact not as marked as that..

I'm not really in this to see how big I can get them, but it will be interesting to see what I have managed to achieve none the less!

Anyone have any idea what the "bushy" one may be - its been growing pretty well for the last 4 weeks or so, but currently no sign of buds as yet...

:-)

So you have an 'Auto flower' flowering, on 18/6... and of course the other [bagseed??] plant is growing and will stay that way until you change your cycle to 12/12... for a first time grow, with LED's looks fine...GOOD LUCK!

Congrats on your first grow, looking pretty good. One very important lesson I hope that you have learned, your plants are tough and it is easier to kill them with too much love than with a little neglect. I am not saying to neglect them, lol. Welcome to RIU I hope that you enjoy your stay.

Beautiful first grow, and congrats!

I agree with canefan, any stress induced in my first indoor grow was caused by too much love... now I just sit back and leave them alone other than the normal scheduled duties. I'm not in there constantly anymore ;)

I know what you mean! The temptation to keep "tinkering" with them is a bitch! I guess I'll finish off the white widow and then switch over the lights to a lower amount of "on" hours and see what happens with the other one :-)
