First Grow, Need Hella Advice!!

Okay, so here's the deal. I have decided to start a stealth grow. I have built a box from a speaker box and so far the whole thing looks good. What I need to know now is what I need to buy to put inside the box for insullation. I know, I ought to already know what to get but, it is my first ever grow. Second, I need to know if it is going to produce a very potent or noticable smell (which strains smell more, which strains don't, etc..)? I am also wondering if, because I have my older brother as a grow partner and he has dealt with his friends growing single indoor plants just a bit so he has some experience in it, should I go for a stronger - dank, kush, etc.. - or a more simple - mids, etc.. - for the first grow? I plan to start the actual grow within the next three or four weeks to have it done/close to done by the end of summer. Lastly, what kind of cheap soil should I use and what are good, cheap nutrients I can pick up from say walmart, local pet stores, etc..? I'm very tight on cash at the start of this grow so I am trying to only spend the neccessary amounts but I completely realize it is going to take a bit of capitol investment. So, I will put up the pictures of my box and will keep an updated journal of the grow if it goes well!

Thanks in advance for the help! :leaf: I will make sure to dedicate a bong hit, blunt blow, joint roll, and/or bowl packing at the end of the grow to all who help out! ;)

Start with the best genetics you can get your hands on. Most auto flowering strains average 1 1/21 to 2' feet tall. They don't yield a lot, but because they don't take up a lot of space they might be perfect for your speaker box setup. Another option is to grow an Indica strain, which normally average 4'-5' feet tall, but you can keep it sized properly by topping and using netting to separate the branches. A fabric grow pot will do you good, since they will help air prune the roots. Otherwise you might want to consider reading a few books on Bonzi plants and root trimming.

For cheap nutrients, I've had really good success with the Alaska Fish Fertilizer and Kelloggs brand fertilizers, both sold at Lowes and Home Depot.

I will look into all of that! I actually hadn't thought of the fabric grow pots. And I was looking into Indica strains from my seed guy but didn't know if I could manage to keep the height down a bit so it's a good thing to hear that I can! I should have the box's inside done completely in the next week or two so I will put pictures of that up too.
Thanks again! All the advice I can get is needed! Have yourself a happy 4/20 ;)

Oh, and here is the box on the outside. It looks rough but no one has asked questions yet because it just looks like a storage box.

congrats on getting into growing:)

For strains, Northern Lights sounds perfect for you... %100 Indica so it stays short, Very easy to grow, Very little smell, and potent...
Soil, you can get Fox Farm Ocean Forest for like $6 at a hydro store, and a cheap nutrient is General Hydroponics MaxiBloom also from a hydro store or ebay. You can use just use Maxibloom the whole grow and its only about $15 and it'll last you a while:)

Be sure to start a journal, and PM me with a link, Ill follow it:P

Just get a strain that says it is good for beginners..doesn't matter how strong it is...not yet anyway...and even some of the strains that people said the smoke isn't that great or it wsan't that strong...it is still stronger than most of the stuff I can afford to buy...So whether it is mids or whatever...it is stronger than what people around here call "dro" which I know only tells you how it was grown, but in my area is a catch all name for good weed...

Oooohhh and the best strain that I could recommend out of what i have grown is either DNA genetics Rocklock..it is a great strain for beginners...it is easy to grow and doesn't care if you mess with it too much...which is the downfall of most new growers...I like it and still grow it...it yields well also...the Smoke has a good high, but it tastes and smells really fuel-y and I like a fruitier smoke, but if I use botanicare Sweet then it makes it taste fruity like I like it...I wasn't sure I would keep growing it, just because of the taste...but now I can happily smoke it with it's more fruity taste that the sweet gives it.

Loving the advice! Looking forward to the grow and will put up a journal from germination to, hopefully, harvest!
