First grow need some advice

Ive spent my time looking for the right seeds and im going to try everything in my power to keep the plants healthy. ive decided on LEDS since pakistan can be very hot and they seem a cooler option. I was hoping someone could help me figure out exactly how much light i need for my specific grow space its gonna be about a 2 metre by 2 metre tent space and i have around 800 dollars to spend. Also i noticed on some of the LEDS that there is a veg light switch and bloom light switch. im only going to grow autoflowers so do i just keep both switches on throughout the cycle or should i turn off the veg light once the plants start flowering?

Autoflowers work just like you think so during the veg peroid some strains will benefit from higher kelvin but you can specifically choose a strain that is short, bushy and really could skip high kelvin. (I'm saying some strains don't do well under veg lighting) Also, remember since it is an auto you can run your lights much longer than 12 hours per day but there is a limit to how much intense light a plant can really use per day. My partner grows autos and I think he does 16 hours per day.

You can build your own light for cheaper. For building the L.E.D. light you should post your question in the L.E.D. light section here:

Most autos are grown using a 20/4 or 18/6 light schedule. Check out mephisto or fast buds seeds - good genetics from both breeders.

well ive tried to get an even balance of indica, sativa, and hybrids so should i just keep it simple and just keep both bloom and veg lights on from the start or should i treat each subtype as different and like u said skip the veg lights for short bushy indicas and keep them on for taller less bushy plants or everything else ?
ill have a look at that section although im almost certain im gonna end up with the viparspectra
thanks for the reply btw

bhai the sun's too good in pakistan , no?
it is perfect but im very skeptical of getting caught by my parents if its growing anywhere in my room or closet space i can keep that locked and contol the space but outdoors i have no way to hide the plants

yeah those were the two banks i went for first i wish they had a few more sativas could u recommend me some sativas produced by anyone other seedbank

Don't grow pot in your parents house against their wishes, it's very disrespectful, after all they did give you life.....

Edit: it also smells very strong, they WILL find it in their house

specifically speaking they havent wished against this so i think im in the clear haha actully my room is sort of away from the rest of the house and its sort of my apartment my parents dont visit it much

What's up with this type of logic? You should listen to the voice that your "haha" is directed at instead of laughing at it. The laughter is an admission of your guilt - you know better!!
My rant is over.

2m by 2m you`ll want 600w to 2000w of led

you can get 1g per w quite easy with good led

you`ll want to be able to switch half of it off during hot times seen as your in pakistan

I`d go with 50 to 300w per plant depends how big your doing them

a good supply of fresh air from outside helps

LEDs are not cooler. The PAR/Heat ratio is more efficient (assuming you get a good brand) but they can put out a lot of heat. Perhaps even more so since most don't have air cooled attachments. I hover between 35 to 40 watts a square foot.

yeah but they don`t hot spot like hps does and a naked led is far less of a fire risk than a naked hid is

as for aircooled attachments you can make and buy leds with aircooled hoods even liquid cooled ones

I`d say a good "cool" led set up can pretty much match a 400w hid in a cool tube but give the yield of a 600w hps in a cool tube per w or beat it if done right

with led`s I`m normally blowing the heat down onto the plants to warm them up, with hids I`m normally trying to vent the heat away

same with induction I find a bare 300w induction over 10inches closer to my plants in the veg area was around 2 to 3c hotter than the 400w hid I was running in a cool tube, so that`s bare induction with a baking tin reflector vs a 400w hid in a cool tube with a "1500" box fan on it

So I`d say bare bulb led and induction are cooler than hid`s are, some people are better off using hids because they need the extra heat so they use bare hids, bit of a fire risk but for how easy they are to get they can do a really good job

HPS aint even that good of a spectrum just most indoor strains have been bred for them and they are very efficient at making the light they do produce and have been on the market for ages, where as other kinds of grow lights are always "new" or "cult" lol

That hot spot depends on the LED. They are not all the same. Those Apollo LED lights get very hot, more so than a HPS of equal wattage. A 600 Watt LED may perform as well as a 1000W HPS, but it still puts out similar heat to a 600W HPS. Its cooler than a 1000W HPS for sure. Keep in mind there are a lot of warehouses in china full of LED diodes from the early 2000s. Its fairly common for a entrepreneur to buy these warehouses just for their inventory, hire a crew to assemble light, and ship them over here. Just research what you plan on buying

Yeah tbh 1w led chips can be a pain and the panel is huge to cover a good area but dam

1w led chips still beat everything else, I mean cobs are so easy 10w to 2000w from 1 chip great and they don`t hot spot as bad as 5w or 10w board types do

but if you want say 500mm to 700mm of good canopy depth and stay cool then I would hunt down the best 1w chip panels you can get

to many people selling/making them they`ll be "old" now

Ok your never going to get good bud more that 500/600mm down the plant so your just going to grow 500mm to 1m plants max, with good cobs you can grow trees much like hps

but them 1w panels can really make some nice top buds and they are cool and don`t use much electric just gotta shop around

And the reason I like leds is I can use 1200w of led where I would normally only be able to use 1 x 600w hid before I got a heat issue, just saying when your working under hid`s vs leds you feed how much hotter it is in the light beam

with leds some of the heat if not most of it is vented via the heatsinks making controlling it easier with hids most of it is emitted by the lamp, so you can`t just block it out as you`ll be blocking out the light too

with liquid cooled leds you could put a heat exchanger outside and then you`d need 2000w or so before you got as hot as a 600hps, of course a lot of led lights have IR emitters now but if your in a hot country you can go for led units that emit less IR you`ll still want some

but the sun`s giving you so much that I doubt they`ll need more heat during lights on

My 1st cob units used 300w each just red and blue is all they put out, 2 of them just in a room was cooler than a 600whps in a cool tube was

So 600w of good cob will run cooler than 600w of hps in a cool tube, they still get warm but in my experience not as much as hids do, but I`m not saying HID`s can`t grow some really good herb

In a cold country with cheap electric and a large area I`d probably go with hids

but in hot weather, low power led chips would work best, cob`s would probably be a bit easier to install and look after

I'm running the spyder x plus LED. Best yields I've received so far but its pricey.

Yeah, if you are handy there are many videos on youtube regarding how to build your own COB. Can't beat a good custom job.

Nice I splashed out on some 300w cobs and drivers and heatsinks some time ago put them together and was testing them but got evicted from my workshop 2 months ago, so not been able to finish a lamp

I had set up 2 x 360w drivers on 2 cobs but they were getting pretty hot so I was going to use 2 drivers to run 3 of the cobs making a 700`ish w lamp with just 3 cobs

So I`d end up with 2 spare drivers and 1 spare 300w cob, guess I`d need some more lamps and heatsinks, lol

would be nice to finish it but I`d have to take a lamp down to put it up as we`ve been close to "maxing out" the electric bill, lol

1600w of led/induction for bloom and 500`ish for veg plus fans and such

I don`t think we`re over doing it

I mean when I used 600w of led, with 600w of mh and 200w induction in my 1m x 1m tent with ac my buds were killing it with a few side lights

Now the bloom is like 2m by 1.2m it`s a 2.4 by 2m tent just need room to walk down it to get to the veg so only using 2/3`s of it

Got any pics of your set up and plants ?

I used to put some up but since I closed mine at home, my other grow is shared and the guy I do it with ain`t too keen on pictures of what we've built, lol
