Maybe head on over to the organic section of the forums HERE I am sure you can find tons of information there & also check out the outdoor section for outdoor specific information HERE. As far as nutrients go you will get all kinds of answers because there is such a wide range of options in this area not to mention personal preference. Lots of OG growers try to build a good base medium so that they can use minimal nutrients throughout the grow because there soil is already providing everything. Hope this helps get you going on the right track at least.

If you are not against using synthetic fertilizers then I can make a suggestion. Not sure if everything is available in Australia but I find a good soiless mix with synthetics is a good starting point for any beginner. Use something like Promix BX or HP and add some perlite to aid in better drainage. Then you could follow the Lucas formula (8/16) with the General Hydroponics three part flora series but all you need is Bloom and Micro and you mix at a ratio of 8ml micro 16ml bloom per us gallon of water from start to finish. BTW there are some embedded links in this message lol

Edit: Also if you can get the chunky perlite it would be better IMO

Getting started with organic "supersoil" takes time, money, or both. I have a little small batch soil recipe that should be considered organic, though technically it isn't because of rock dust, but it is all natural. Organic is such a misleading word, honestly, but the organic forum here is very helpful. You probably needed to start cooking your soil and making compost tea weeks ago if you want to walk the inexpensive organic path. Here's my soil recipe made from stuff you can get from the garden store or Amazon, just because I haven't posted it before.

Mike Huntherz’s small batch ÜberSoil
Everything here available as “organic” products
except Azomite which is rock dust from Utah

  • 4 Cubic Feet (2 large bags) of Fox Farm Happy Frog or other minimally fertilized organic potting soil
  • 10 lbs of worm castings
  • 1.25 lbs steamed bone meal
  • 1.25 lbs bloom bat guano
  • 1.25 lbs blood meal
  • 1 cup kelp meal
  • 1 cup oyster meal
  • 2 cups alfalfa meal
  • .75 lbs rock phosphate
  • 3 tbsp Epsom salts
  • 2 tbsp sweet lime (dolomite)
  • 2 tbsp azomite (trace elements)
  • ½ tbsp powdered humic acid
  • .33 cup crab meal
  • .33 cup charcoal
Mix thoroughly in a very large plastic bin, wait for a couple of months stirring it a bit every week or so.

Usage Guide:

1) Plant your well-established starts, not seedlings or cuttings.
2) Water it.
3) The end.

Thanks for your advice i have decided to step away from organic mainly because i dont have the room to mix up soil and let it sit for the desired amount of time so i am looking for a alternative probably just some potting mix and some other bits and pieces to aid in drainage im hoping i can find most of the materials i need at bunnings.
