First grow, NFT hydro - A.M.S and Lemon Skunk

I had started 1 A.M.S seed and it sprouted like a curley Q but I hate to put her down so I kept her. I germinated another 8 of the Feminized A.M.S's and they look great after 1 week. I bought the highgrow flow master NFT system and thought it would be good to test my curley plant in it first before putting the others in. I used 2.5ml of floragrow, micro & bloom per gallon like the directions showed for seedings and after 1 day I noticed nute burn. I added another 2 gallon's water and adjusted the ph again. It's leafing pretty good but's it's been only 3 days since i've started. I was thinking of only doing 1 to 1.5 ml per gallon to keep this from happening to my other babies. Any advice on nute solution for seedlings in NFT system?

erm, in a word - no.

we don't know what we are doing. we have no idea of anything. we have had about 1ml to 1l of water, and one plant, the lemon skunk, seems fine, the other less so.

so, erm, your guess is as good as ours!

the AMS seems to have developed a magnesium defficiency, so we have sprayed with epsom salts. that has made, give or take, roughly, i would estimate fuck all difference.

next time we will only grow one plant, we think, and then we can adjust the actual magnesium content of the nutrient solution, but as the other, bigger, better looking plant is ok, we don't want to do that yet.

my best advice for you is ask someone who knows something!

if we were to advise you it would very much be a case of the partially sighted leading the blind.

sorry. :-)

According to the research (just because it is hands on, doesn't mean you aren't doing research ) you have done....... Or .. remember we are new, here is what we found...
If you qualify your advice, and correct it if necessary.....??

I remember when Al B Fuct corrected his, and he had already been growing for about 10 years. Last advice. VV

time for a quick update, my babies are doing well, both of them that is. The Lemon Skunk is 49" tall (125cm) which if i'm perfectly honest is too tall, running out of room. lesson learnt start the flowering earlier or shorter. Started flowering at 17" so i'm hoping it's going to stop growing up soon as it's just about tripled in hieght.
The AMS is doing much better since we sprayed some epson salt on it. It's still a lot shorter than the LS at about 38" (96cm).
3 1/2 weeks of flowering done so far hopefully things will continue to go well.

the blummin lemon skunk is still growing! the bloody thing won't stop. the ams is looking like a nice little plant, the buds are firming up nicely and there is real potential in that little plant.

but the lemon skunk keeps growing. we are not even 4 weeks into flowering and it is still going! should be another 4 weeks of flowering, so its pretty worrying. firstly, because the top leaves show sign of heat burn, but we can't actually lift the light any higher. and secondly, because it is so stretched, the buds aren't really forming up into nice colas. there are lots of individual grow sites, and lots of individual buds, but no one big nice top bud. this may not matter, may get more off lots of little buds, but the constant growing is a worry.

any help or tips, for future, on how to keep a plant from stretching too much would be very appreciated.

cheers guys, more pics soon.

tie the branches down heat up a nail or scissors and put some holes in the rim of the pot thread some string through an tie the branches down. or tie them to the tent poles.
you could nip the very top of the budding branches out that should slow the growth and make the plant bush out.

its all strain dependant but allowing for the plant to double or in some cases triple in size when you flip it to 12 /12 is a good idea. some strains like to be topped some dont, you can achieve more buds in less space doing LST the FAQ has some really good guides on it i personally prefer supercropping but you'll find your feet!

happy growing man!

so more pics of the girls. the lemon has stopped sprouting new nodes and seems to be concentrating on growing a bud at the top of the main kola. We ended up tying the the Lemon to the side of the grow tent as it was getting to close to the light and suffering from heat burn. Things are looking ok, but hey look at the pics and see for your self. Peace

have you got any sort of booster nutrient to put in? cos the last 3 weeks is the time if you have! id recommend canna pk13/14 or Advanced nutrients Overdrive

yeah good stuff man are you using the grow n bloom at the same time? had a brief scan n couldn't see if you were meant to or not, but the bloom stuff is quite high NPK 10-9-19 but you can get extra stuff to put in but you'll be more than fine going with that stuff man!

was using the grow for the first 4 weeks, then when we went into 12/12 i washed out the tank and started using the bloom, been addign approx 1ml to 1ltr of water.
haven't really got to grips with the different levels within the nutrient and how it will effect the plant yet. what does 10-9-19 mean?

10-9-19 is the level of NPK

NPK represents the key constituent chemical elements Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) used in plant fertilisers.

youll find most veg nutes are high in N and fairly low in P & k as the plant uses N to grow and P& K mostly to flower
