I got bored today and built a "spacebucket" for my new seedling. I got the idea from another thread in the micro grow section and also outlined here http://www.spacebuckets.com. I made my bucket out of empty cat litter pails. It has 4 26w cfl's and two exhaust fans with a passive intake on the bottom. Temps appear to be holding steady at 77 degrees. I'm not quite done yet, it still needs painting and light proofing.

check it out.

Heres another update
10days since 12/12 switch and not showing any sex yet.

The bigger of the two girls.

This is one is short and stocky

and also my seedling that is growing in the spacebucket. I love this thing by the way. So simple to make with a dremel, easily customizable, low profile, no temp problems. I wish I had just started with buckets to begin with.

13 days since switch but still no sex. I had to tie the bigger plant down because it was stretching too close to the lights. How long should it take for the plants to sex after flipping the lights? 13 days seems like quite a while...

depends on the strain and size at flower. but generally 1-3 weeks.

It appears to be another fail on the temperature control. Close up the box for 20 minutes and it hits 90 and still climbing. I have no idea what to do now and I'm about to give up with this damn cab....
try putting your inner fan on the other side, a little lower pointing up.....you do have outtake on the top yes?

No they weren't feminized seeds. I didn't realize the difference when I ordered as this was my first time growing.
Both plants were definitely male and I already destroyed them and had the funeral. I had another plant a couple days old rights now and just put 3 more in to sprout. Let's cross our fingers this time for 1 out of 4... :(

Sorry to hear about the males, but you could atleast make some hash (:

Just wondering, are you still having heat control problems? I found in my little cab (15"x19"x24") that it was best to use two pc fans @ 30cfm each for exhaust at the top, with a passive intake that was about 1.25-1.75 times the size of the fans at the bottom.

The ambient temperature was around 78 degrees F in the house. With the 4 23w cfls, it raised upwards 100. (No ventilation.) Since I did all that, the temps stay around 80-85ish. Now, that the season is cooler its even less of a problem, with temps at about 75 consistently.

The rule of thumb I use is knowing how many cubic feet you have, and multiply by 2 or 3. (Depending on how much heat you need to exhaust.) That number should be the amount of cfms your fans have.

I like your set ups Cano, reminds me of shit I tried.
Keep doing what you are doing and keep reading and learning. Take notes and keep photo journals.
I have a Nirvana Ice that was cloned 20+ times.

Ordered 5 fem seeds. 3 sprouted and over time I killed the other 2.
The one that is left is a tall stretchy plant that needs to be tied down.
Not the best clone of Ice but it's good, strong smoke.
I'd love to have a male plant of Ice to breed with some of the other plants but I know you're just starting out.

I run small cabs myself with computer fans/passive intakes and don't have many problems over 90 degs.
Guess it's the rooms ambient temp. Instead of your garage I would move that box inside where temps are more stable.

Keep up the good work and keep reading.

The last Ice I cut down.
Wasnt lst'd like it should have been and it grew too tall and lanky.
Still great smoke.
