lauriem: Thanks! I have not yet sampled any and I plan on waiting... "good things come to those who wait" ;) I've got a scale and I will weight up the four girls after trimming and after drying to compare how much weight was lost during drying.

i figured out looking at your last pics, that you haven't topped the plants. i wonder why you didn't? i did twice each plant, and now i have 10 tops/plant, 4 main top and the rest.

asd3reff: Hey, thanks for the comment! One reason I didn't top them is because this is my first crop... I plan on doing experimenting in the future crops. Before I do experimenting I wanted to have a baseline/benchmark to use as a reference.

The other reason being that I really didn't know about topping until you mentioned it. I remember reading about the general idea of it, but I had no full understanding of it and therefore I had no idea I could benefit so much from it. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely remember this for next time! :)

Btw.. news on the crop is coming.. I just finished trimming 3 days ago and the buds are almost dry.. I predict somewhere early in the week to come :) I've got lots of pics, before and after! I'm going to update sometime this weekend with the pics.

you should start read and learn tips&tricks, and may use it during your next grow, don't wait for all the things to come when you need them.

So here we are, the final product is just days away! I have some sweet pics attached of the harvest. I tied four strings across my closet to hang the buds on. Each string holds a 4' length of buds from a single plant. I've started alternating the buds from drying to curing throughout the process as recommended in high time's ready-set-grow dvd. Which is kick ass btw! :) I'm currently in my third phase of curing as I am writing this. At the rate the buds are drying, I estimate another 2-4 days till they're ready for smoking.

Okay, so it's now been eight days since we (my friends and I) have harvested and the buds have been rotating between a drying and curing cycle on a 2:1 ratio of time (16hrs drying : 8hrs curing). The buds are almost done, about another day or two. I vividly remember from jorge cervantes dvd that you'll know when the buds are dry enough when the stem snaps instead of bending. Right now the stems are bending and partly snaping on the outer edge. At the rate they've been drying, I'd say tomorrow they'd be done.

Damn fantom! nice looking buds

do U have a fan on them? I find they dry out much quicker with a fan indierctly on them...actually I keep my fan directly on them, my most dank buds dried in 5 days..then off to cure.

Spittn4cash: No, I didn't use a fan. I did this intentionally because I heard on a DVD that the longer buds take to dry, the smoother the smoke and burning qualities. I do have a 6" exhaust fan running 24/7 which does help reduce the humidity. Also I stopped watering 2 days before harvest to help save a day or two on drying.

DUDE! The buds are done! I've trimmed up the buds and weighed them all up into bags. Here are the final results:

Tutti-Fruity (T3): 15.0g
Tutti-Fruity (T4): 10.2g
XXX-420: 15.6g
Afghani: 26.4g

====================
Total: 67.2 grams

I will post pictures this weekend of all the buds :D

Here is the tutti fruity. This is in high demand by my friends. Mostly indica and sweet smell to it. It caries a mellow stone with a lethargic appeal to it. Great for chillin on a sunday afternoon, listening to Q107 Psychedelic Psunday.

This is pretty much the end of my journal. The whole process from germination to harvest was a great experience. I learned a lot of things which I'm eager to apply to my next crop. I'm grateful I took all the measures to ensure no problems with bugs or fungus occurred. This crop couldn't have been any better for my first time. I'm very pleased the final results.

Looking forward now I've put all four mothers and 6 clones from those mothers under my HID light on a light cycle of 16 hours on and 8 hours off. This is ideal for root growth. I've also watered them all with 4ml/litre of DNF Grow A & B. I am hoping to get the clones going good enough that I can make them pure mothers and never flower them.. then discard the existing mothers. They are looking sad today, don't have any green in them, its all brownish. I'm thinking they took too much damage after harvest, but I"ll still keep trying until they are dead for sure. Even if they die, I'm okay with that because I have clones that I can use. I'm planning on moving in July so I will probably just hold onto the clones until I move then start a rotating crop flowering. I'm not sure if I'll start another journal for my second grow op. If you'd like to me do another grow journal, please leave your comments :D
