Next time try a smart pot, a 3 gallon smart pot would be perfect. They increase yields by aerating the roots and air prunes the roots so ya don't have to worry as much about the plant getting too big.
After doing a little research it seems that I may have run the pot to the max with the size of the plant. So I went out an got a 3 gal today. This gave me a chance to redo the LST so it's much cleaner. For all those who use twist ties and your planter has a 'lip' to it, you can just fold the twist tie under it without creating holes in the planter.
Thanks so much dude. It's so awesome to watch him go along. Hows your grow doing? I need to hop over and check it out.The plant is really looking nice.
Well it may only be hard if you are a Neanderthal. I have very little D.I.Y knowledge but I was able to put it together quite easily. I will take pictures for you tomorrow. All I did was take two rubbermaids (of which I will be upgrading to larger ones next grow) and turn them top to top. I cut holes for all the lights. I lined the inside of the rubbermaids with aluminum tape. I would recommend not using the aluminum tape because it was more of a hassle than it was worth (price wise). I'd go with a roll of mylar. I cut two holes in the rubbermaid. One for intake which has a fan sucking air in, and an exhaust which is pushing air out. I made a light blocker for the exhaust fan out of cardboard and duct tape. The entire set-up (minus the actual lightbulbs and the fans) cost me maybe 85-100 bucks...with the bulbs and fans I am at $300.sweet dude how hard was your rubbermaid to put together.
Thanks LoveLife! I too was inspired when I saw the ease of use and the low price tag. When and if you get it setup let me know. I love that everyone kinda does theres alittle different. Anyway thanks for the positive feedback!you have inspired me to try this method. ive been scouring this site and not posting at all just looking for my method of choice!
Hey Tim! I am using nutes. I was shy with it at first, having read so many people burning plants. I literally just use the FoxFarm Tiger Bloom and there is a definite flowering vigor when I feed. I will be getting the rest of the 'Core' line. The Grow Big and Bloom Big(I think that's the names).wait a minute, i do have something to add. i got a couple 32 gal. rubbermaids ontop of each other too, but im just using ge fluorescent tubes, not cfls. are you using nutes? i just started my second batch with fox farm nutes and i can see the difference, def worth it. the only thing that sucks bout rubbermaids is opening it. you got some brackets on one end, so it opens like a crocodile mouth (couldnt think of a better example)? get a chair or something u can rest the lid on while you do your work inside. your shits working, def, good shit. also, i noticed a cat food dish. dunno bout yours but my cat wouldnt leave my box alone, fuckin with the cords and shit. using aluminum foil or mylar?
