First grow since 2012, comments welcome - 900w LED - 4x2 - purple kush and royal gorilla

Starting my new grow journal as everything is ordered and on the way. I had intended to start growing again by 2014 but life had other plans. I’m happy to say I’m back now and more excited than ever for this new grow setup. As always, I did this on a budget and will try to maximize the equipment. My first ever grow was 288 grams off eBay 400w HPS. I exceeded all my expectations with that grow (documented in another way thread here).

Setup this time since I had to toss or giveaway my gear from last grow:
-4x2x7’ quictent
-900w eBay led (viparspectra, pulls ~400 from wall)
-4” exhaust fan and carbon filter
-various fans from Walmart
-going to use smart pots, 3 gallon then 5 gallon for flowering
-undecided on Nutes yet, last nute order was amazing but doesn’t look like he does them anymore

I will be popping 6 seeds and keeping any healthy females once I flip:
-2 purple kush
-2 royal gorilla
-1 Girl Scout cookies
-1 ayahuasca purple

Once I build everything in the next week, this journal will be filled with pics just like my last one.

Almost everything has arrived and/or been
picked up... except the seeds and a few loose ends in the mail. I have a ph and ec meter from previous grow, hopefully they’re still functioning. The electrician is coming Wednesday morning to install a closet outlet so everything will be inside the door if I need it to be. Then I’ll set it all up and get it going... start zeroing in on temps and rh. Hopefully about the same time the seeds arrive.

Stumbled upon this perfect sounding seedling soil at dollar store for a nice price too. Should be fine

Only random seed I have ... from nice bud circa 2012/13 ish.

Good luck J looking organized! Regarding lighting your seedling does the viparspectra have bloom & grow switchswitch?

Led's are great but...the electricty bills are not. have you considered a small T5 fluorescent tube 11/17/24w 6500k for the 1st week of seedlings. (I eventually got a 24k for clones& seedling for £24) Even with only 1 switch on its still 200w 18hours a day for a week.

Yeah I know it’s overkill. Assuming I grow again after this crop, my setup will get more advanced and fine tuned for growing. :bigjoint:

A lot of things I want to purchase, a nice led for example... but need to hold off for other priorities sadly.

Seeds arrived and I already have them in paper towels.

2 x royal gorilla
1 x Girl Scout cookies
2 x purple kush
1 x ayahuasca purple
(All feminized)

Once they pop we are officially off and running.

Progress:
-Had electrician out this AM
-3 out of 6 had germinated yesterday and 2 more today.. 6th seed (PK) was cracked to start, maybe it’ll work.
-prepped closet/cleaned
-setup tent and filter/fan
-planted all 6, lightly prewatered soil and a smidge more once planted

I’ll finish tomorrow after work.

Since RIU was down for a little... decent update for today:

-This house’s ac works very well, it’s killing my tent humidity though. I ordered a humidifier as I want it 55%+ for veg. Been high 30’s and then low 40’s once I added a few home remedies seen in pics.
-Cracked PK seed ended up being a dud, tossed it. I really only have room for 3 flowering plants anyways
-Fearing the GSC seedling has been infected by damping. Not positive as I’ve never dealt with it before but the seedling has tipped over a smidge since yesterday. The stem looks healthy but no idea why else that would happen.
-Girls currently rest in the hottest part of the day 11-5pm
-Need a new intake fan as my half ass version isn’t cutting it. Exhaust is sucking in the tent walls so going to fix that with string temporarily and order another intake fan
-Ordered ph calibration kit as it’s been 6+ years since I used my ph meter.
-picked up a reducer so I can route my exhaust into the attic which should drop my temps another degree or two.
-Going to keep feeding them straight water for another 2 weeks then repot in smart pots with some real soil

We shall see what happens!

led is the cheapest way to grow. they havent came out with anything that uses less power.....they are still working on it. Each t5 bulb is 54 watts.....
200 watts for 18 hrs a day is EXTREMELY cheap compared to other lighting.

J you have an awesome setup quedos to you for the gumption, but take a moment; you are at seedling/propergation stage. Your set up is for veg & flower proper. Consider a small propogator? Lid on & vents can be adjusted to get a desired RH%

Coming up on 6 days from seed. Pics of the remaining 5... getting slightly bigger now. Hoping by next week I have some actual growth. Two pictured: the Royal Gorilla is showing a deficiency already. The GSC looks healthy just not pointing up at the light, don’t think it’s damping.

It is, I mean if you get eg. 4 oz or maybe even 8 or more, thats alot of weed for the money you use on power. What is the general price in the UK for a kilowatt mate?

About 14p per Kwh I've been trying to reduce the electricity footprint (paranoid of comp reporting surge in usage) of my lights hence << superfluous wattage.
