2 weeks and a few days later....I only have 2 surviving :(. It turns out that I actually wasn't watering them enough! I think what happened is that I read everywhere that one of the biggest newbie mistakes was over watering and that got me worried. Oh well I definitely learned a lot.

These are my two best (lets hope they are both females!!!!!)

The rest pretty much look like this. I transplanted all of them and their roots look really good so I am hoping they recover....but i doubt they will

The only two that survived have the same soil! It looks like I have my soil mixture that works best for me!

Fox Farm 60-75%
Perlite or Vermiculite (or mixture of both) 15-20%
Worm Castings 10-15%
 
1 week later...man have they grown! the 2nd one is still pretty skinny =/

Thats something I would like to try someday but it might have to be after this grow because I want to start off with the basics and then do something different every grow so that I have something to compare it to.
 
Yeah nice just elearning and stuff is this your first grow? Sorry if I missed it probley says it on like the first post, but yeah each time you will get better and better just focus on getting the p.h right not over watering but watering when it's just right and mabey giving them nutes but very little if you get good organic soil it will usually be enough some people go crazy with nutes and over do it because they think it is going to really help them. Well happy growing I'll be around seeing how your grow comes along.

Yes its my first grow :). I actually haven't messed around with ph levels but I should probably take a look. At first I over fed them with nutes and thats why 8/10 of them died on me. I then just used a very very small amount every other feeding and they seem to love it. Just watered them again this morning with just distilled water and next watering I am giving them another very small dose of nutes. Thanks for the tips doubletake. I will have more pictures on Monday so taht another week goes by. I am still having issues with the second one looking so skinny though...I was hoping some of my nutes would help but its still fairly skinny.

I am giving them a small dose of foxfarm growbig and big bloom right now (about 1 tbsp of each per 1 gallon...maybe less). I plan to give them foxfarm tiger bloom when they are flowering
 
New update coming tonight. I fimmed my plants last week...will post pictures as soon as i get home. They are about 1 foot and a half tall at the moment. I am thinking a couple more weeks and I will switch the lights to 12/12
 
Yea no problem for the tips getting your ph on point is a huge thing because if it's off they might not even be taking mutes up and you could probley get a little drop test kit for like 12 bucks at a hydro store or something similar, and I was also just thinking the skinny ness on the one plant could be from it not wiggling enough like from your fan cause fans is what makes the stems and stuff get thick so mabey your oscillating fan doesn't hit that one as good as the other and so it doesn't get wiggled as much and isn't building up the branches, Idk just something I thought of it also just could be genetic in that plant.
Alao looking forward to the new pics they'd probley grown quite a bit.
 
Hmm possibly....Although each of them have an identical fan blowing on them in the same way. Ur probably right about the genetics. Well as promised, here is a shot of them right now. I also tested the run off ph and they both were at 7.0 which is what my tapwater is here. is that bad? Some of the tips also starting to yellow very very slightly so I moved the light farther away a few days ago

bad news. My ballast crapped out while trying to put a carbon filter into the grow tent. Oh well....I put an RMA in so we will see what happens. luckily I have 4 fluorescent tube T5 that I put in there to keep the 18/6 schedule going. Lets hope the RMA comes back fast!!!!! kiss-ass
 
Return merchandise authorization. When a part is defective and it is still under warranty, you can request an RMA from the manufacturer and they will replace the product. The ballast has a 2 year warranty so I sent the company an email to have it replaced. Haven't heard from them but they said they usually respond within 2 business days.

On a side note, I am going to post some more pictures on Monday.
