First Grow: The Journal

So, this is my very first grow. My dad used to grow a lot, so maybe I inherited his green thumb.
I planted them 5 days ago in soil. they popped up about 2 days ago.
3 of the 4 haven't completely shed their shell, but on the most mature one, I can see tiny little fan leaves beginning to form.
I am so damn excited!

I have 1 CFL 65W to grow with write now. I know, it's shit, but it's all I have. I have a small little cabinet in my garage I'm using to grow. I lined the walls with plastic wrap for better weather proofing, then lined that with aluminum to reflect light better.
Because it is starting to get could already, under my plant, in ascending order i have these things in layers: Cardboard, heating pad, cardboard, homemade insulation, then cardboard again. Along the sides of the pot, I have more homemade insulation holding in heat. I also have a small floor heater blowing warm air into the cabinet.

I'll try to find a way to get pictures on here for my next entry. I will try to update it every day or two.
Thanks for reading this guys!

Yeah, but that's all I have at the moment. I'll work on getting at least another light in there.
It's an unknown strain, so I'll add that in there.
I'm working on getting a camera to take some pictures.

for about 15 bucks you can get a shop light 4' with two bulbs in it. I recommend that or a bunch of wyes with more cfls. flower asap as the fls wont provide for much height but you can reap some smoke no problem with cfls. good luck!

10/3/11 Update

Today, I replaced my lighting "holder" (it was a block of wood that could hold 1 light clamp) with one that could hold a max of four. I added another light clamp so currently there are 2 cfl's for my plant. I also raised the pot closer to the lights.
Hopefully, I'll see better growth tomorrow.
1 plant still hasn't shed it's seed casing.
Still trying to find a way to get some pictures...

10/4/11 Update

Today, in 5 minutes, I'm switching the lights off for the first time since they sprouted. I'll leave them off for 6 hours, then turn them on at 9.
I heard that having a "resting" period for the plants helped them grow stronger roots, and in turn, stronger/healthier plants.
Tomorrow, I shall report if there is noticeable difference in growth rate/overall health of the plant.
Still attempting to get a camera....
