First grow update - first lst attempt

Hey RIU wanted to post an update on my grow. 6 bagseeds at 26v. Growing in organic soil under 300 true watt mixed spectrum cfl. Just started with ff nutes at half recommend. I've attempted some lst on 1 of my plants. Will be starting the others tonight. Was hoping for some feedback or suggestions before moving to the rest of the plants. Any insight greatly appreciated.

Also. Should I clip the yellowing leaves on the bottom or just let them Be?

One more also. Have 1 plant that's been wonky since the start. Pics attached of this as well. Any advice on what I can do to possibly help it out? I can upload pics from earlier in growth if needed.

im new myself but are u using lots of water in these what soil u using mate i would say being a newbie our first biggest mistake is overwatering and looks similar to the stuff i read about and some of the effects overwater can look like nutrient diffiencies or toxicity i think mate do these pots have drain holes ??

I'm pretty sure I'm not overwriting. I give them a good drench every 3 days or so depending on humidity in the area. Watering for the smaller plant has been a little further apart. Generally day after the rest. PH on runoff 6.2. Pots have good drainage.
 
what soil u using bud ?? just looks very sandy n wet like its holding a lot of water on a few pics 20160429_065411.jpg look at the cracks possible root exposure to light perhaps ? not sure how many ud be able to grow under a 300 cfl mate i had a 150 tried to grow 4 and one sacrificed itsself and left the 3 biggest and they didnt look great till i got a 600 hps now they booming

Atm I'm making a cfl hood with apx 450 true watt mixed spectrum. My plan is to sex the plants and transplant the females into bigger pots under the 450 hood. I'll use the existing lights I have over them for veg for side lighting. Feasible? Would compacted soil give the 20% runoff in about 2 minute's? I've been timing the runoff to check my drainage. Has seemed ok to me so far. There's about 30-35% perlite mixed in. Plants where watered a few hours before pics so that may explain the wet soil?
 
i see ur thoughts but can i ask would u not get better coverage with less effort by getting a second cfl to widen light coverage and possibly some cheaper more directable cfls u could have close to vital leaves or at worst just a small cfl each whats ur plans if all 6 are female im not so much with the drainage it just doesnt look right my friend have u thought of purchasing some all in 1 soil i love this dutch stuff called bat special so far havent had to give my plants any nutes or anything and im at day 22 a simple 10 pounds in uk currency could save these babys i think that would be where id start mate http://www.onestopgrowshop.co.uk/gr...-bat-special-soil-and-guano-mix-50-litre.html theres lots of people on here recomend good mediums im sure if u ask around u will find lots of preferance
 
Sorry. I should have specified. As of now there are 16 23w cfl hung close to the plants I lift lights to take pics. They sit apx 2in above plants. I'm planning on transplanting into ffof once sex is determined and holding on nutes for a while as I figure the fresh ffof soil should have enough nutes for a couple weeks. As for drainage is there a better way to test? From what I've read it seems that if you get the 20% runoff in a short period of time the soil is draining properly?

seams like this guys ur man for that mate have u compacted the soil alot when u put it in something just isnt right with it if its fox farms ive heard good stuff about it but sometimes too hot as standard

Thanks for the info bud. Much appreciated. If anyone has another way for me to determine if soil is to compacted besides watching the run off please let me know. I get very little resistance doing the knuckle deep test also. Thanks a ton!

Also any input on the lst attempt would be appreciated as I'm hoping to start training the rest tonight.
 
again im new myself so may not be fully accurate ive got a lot to learn and im about to do some lst myself in about an hour when the lights come on my first time too :D20160429_064011.jpg wtf is that growing in ur pot with ur plant on the left side towards ur lst and zooming in on them whats all the white dust on them do u spray ur leafs with water ?

ok mate looked a bit suspect thats all i asked about the white stuff as i was spraying my leafs daily and noticed it too it when i stopped i found it easier to determine if the plant was thirsty u can tell a lot just off the leafs and where there at n what there doing
 
Oh I've only sprayed twice now in the last couple weeks. Didn't want to overdue it. I been using weight of the pot to determine when to water. Also will test soil knuckle deep for moisture.
 
curious about how much water u use ive been using no more than 1.5 litres between 4 pots every 3 days and depending on how they are i adjust if i think maybe a tad less or more
 
I've been using a touch over a gallon for all 6 every 3 days or at the moment. They seem to be using the water faster now though so I may increase sometime soon.

Might just be my eyes playing tricks on me but in your lst photo it appears that there is an additional small green growth on left side of pot, this should be something you look at. You mentioned that your runoff ph is 6.2 what is the ph of the water when you water the plant? I'd be shooting for a ph around 6.5 of the water you are feeding them to prevent lockout.

The soil does appear pretty compact, and runoff in a timely manner isn't always a sign of lose soil. The speed of which you water it, the moisture level in the soil, size of container, etc can all play contributing factors to this. Most first timers overwater, I have actually let my plants go a week or so at a time before having to water them, if your watering every couple of days at this stage in there life this could be a possible issue.

As far as cutting of the yellowing leaves, at this point the plants are pretty small, and as long as the leaves aren't actually dying, I wouldn't remove them at this point as it will add extra stress to the plant in my opinion.
