First Grow using CFL's

Any time the tips of leaves start browning you might want to check your pH(runoff) that is usually the culprit!

No chlorine, only rain water here.... I think it is a minor problem, just the very small end of the tip and it doesn't spread or get worse.
I have started transitioning my way into flowering, swapping 6500k bulbs for 2650k, one at a time. I will be decreasing the lenrth of lighting as well over the coming weeks. I can hardly weight. My main big plant is My one main big plant is about 9" tall and about 10" wide. Its the picture of health except for the minor brown tips problem. It will be 3 weeks old Monday. My one week old seedlings got repotted tonight due to them being stretchy. I reduced their numbers to 3. They have their own light now so they should be quite happy.

Well today is the 3 week birthday for my one plant and 1 week for my other seedlings. I am slowly morphing into a 12/12 lighting and pretty much all 2650k lights. Should be there about next monday! I have a couple of real spindly seedlings that are all bent over, I am doing a Ghetto scrog with them to see what happens. They lay down and touch the soil where the stem bends anyway, worth a try.

I still have free ladybugs for anyone that sends me a pm with address

No, I think I burned it moving a light yesterrday. I remember doing it and today it is brown. The very tips of new growth are brown, but it doesn't spread. Cant decide if it is Mag. deficiency or what? My PH is around 6.5-7 and I use rainwater. Very light on the Nutes and I am going to cut back on that even.
The palnt grow 1-2+ inches a day... Time to flower!

The tips of the leaves looks like some minor nute burn IMO, which can happen when using soil that has nutes/fert already in it, I've had personal experience with this. Doesn't look like much to worry about though, as long as it doesn't get any worse than just the tips. An interesting bit of info, you will get more light intensity from the sides of those spiral CFL bulbs, or pretty much any CFL really. Try using a socket splitter, basically has a Y shape, makes two sockets out of one, and shouldn't cost more than $1 each. You can use these to increase your amount of light by both exposing the sides and adding more bulbs in roughly the same amount of space.

here's a quick way to take care of your water supply. I use a dehumidifer with my setup to keep the moisture down. my plants always seem to do better in a dryer environment. when the dehumidifer gets full, just pour the water off into milk jugs and save. all this water is distilled by the machine and you have a ready supply of distilled water. also remember to keep the humidifer resevoir and coils clean (no soap). seems to work very well for me

Well I think I am slowly learning some things... I noticed that my brown tips on my plants seems to be getting larger on older leaves, probably normal and I also see it on my seedlings now. Somebody posted that plants do this in some potting soil and someone else mentioned that nutrients cause it. It doesn't look serious so I am cutting off all nutrients and I am going to start using potting soil without nutrients in the future!

When I use soil I wait for the plant to tell me when its time to start feeding it nutes. You can go about 30 days without feeding a plant when using most soils....

Good note is that you learn like this! I always learn from my mistakes!!
