First Grow (Vortex and JTR Clones - Need Help!)

Hi I just got my JTR and Vortex clones.. they need about 1 week before they are ready to transplant. (As I was told) There's also some pistil formation on both clones, I was told after I'd veg them they'll bounce back just as fine.

Light: 4" 8-bulb HO T5 - 40K lumens, one side is turned off.

Bulbs: Do I use all 6500K spectrum? Or 2 grow and 2 bloom?

How far does my T5 need to be from my clones? It's currently about 10 inches away from the tops.

Should I turn my circulating fan off? I am worried the breeze will stress them too much.

Should I cut a fan leaf? Maybe after a few days?

When should I water?

Bump... this is my first grow and I'm trippin about the lights.

Okay it turns out 10 inches was too close! They are about 16 inches away now, some of the leaves were drying up and breaking off.. I hope they survive that fuck-up on my end.

maybe try a humidity dome to keep the humidity up until they have roots established. you can make a home made one to fit over that party cup by chopping off the top of a 2l. i recently used a green 2l for some cuttings and it worked fine, just be careful of over watering after you get a humidity dome on there. good luck!

Hmm what are some signs of low-humidity? Yesterday some leaves dried and broke off. I moved them 6 inches away from the T5 because I thought it was heat stressed.. maybe the leaves broke off because of low humidity? It's around 30%-35% in there, toward 40% at night when the light turns off.

Well for clones that have not rooted properly they have to intake water from their leaves so high humidity is required (@ 70-80%). Once the roots form is when you want to harden clones off a bit and possibly clip leaves to lower transpiration.

hang a wet towel in front of a fan until you can buy a proper humidifier. 30% is waaaay to low unless you are in the latter stages of flowering.

Sorry to hear about your leaves man. Leaves crusting off of a cutting is either humidity or heat issues my man. I think your t5 might still be too close at 6" away, cuttings don't need intense light until they are established. You for sure use a spray bottle and a 2l to make some humidity domes, just cut a 2l in half and you have 2 domes. Keep it humid in there with the spray bottle. Good luck man!

Edit: If your lights are still as far away as they are in the picture then you are fine on that regard.
