First Grow, Want to Flower with Blue Metal Halide

Hi Guys, I'm new to your site, and this is my first post :) I am on my first grow starting with 5 non feminized cbd sjhark seeds. They're supposed to be 6% / 6% THC/CBD which sounded pretty interesting to me, although I will admit I'm already wishing I had vegged at least one or two potent THC plants.. Anyways, I'm growing in soil, up to this point I've just used Dr. Earth POTting soil, with perlite and some happy frog tomato & vegetable. I am going to move from 1 gallon pots to 3 gallon smart pots and flower in a 36x20x60 tent. I think I will use the True Living Organics method as described in the book by The Rev. In the book he recommends flowering under the Hortilux Eye Blue MEtal Halide and says it's the best liught he has ever worked with for all stages of growth. Has anybody else here tried this bulb for flowering or does anyone have any experience with True Liiving Organics? What kind of yields could I expect in the tent I mentioned with a 400 Watt Blue MH? Thanks!

If the book suggests flowering under a MH light, throw it away. Your going to need a LOT more red spectrum during flowering which is more characteristic of a HPS light. I flowered once under an MH when I had just started out growing and ended up with very leafy airy buds. If you DO end up using an HPS during flowering instead of an MH, I could see you achieving a yield of around 3-5 ounces of dried product in that size tent, but using an MH you'll probably end up with half that.

Thanks Kagecog, idk if it makes a diference, but it's not just an ordinary metal halide; this is the Hortilux Eye Blue MH bulb. On the website, it says it was developed to replicate sunlight. There are others out there who stand by this bulb in particular, who would probably not recommend flowering with a regular metal halide. Do you know first hand that these bulbs with enhanced spectrum still produce substandard buds?I'm just asking because the book is very extensive about all the various minute details to make the buds just right and it just seems weird that this guy would completely get the light wrong. He does say that organic buds don't seem to respond to the light as well, could this be (just my attempt at a guess) because of the hormones and fertilizers that are typically used to grow may cause the plant to respond better to the high pressure sodium then an organic plant?

Hortilux blue 1000w is dual bulb inside the one. A 600w hps and 500mh.. yes I know that totals 1100w that's why u can run on Super if your ballast is adjustable.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the Hortilux Dual Arc 1000w. The BLUE is all MH.

Keep reading TLO and check out this thread.

One of the posters posted pics of his flowers under the Blues. He has HPS mixed in on one pic but check out the top DWC pic...I think there is nothing to worry about using them to flower and I truly believe that the 1000w HPS didn't make a huge difference. It probably didn't justify his power bill. Still a cool poster though.

BTW in that tent with that wattage light don't expect a HUGE yield. Not a crappy one though. And from what I've seen and heard you will have extra frosty nugs. Upgrade to a 600 or even a 1000w if affordable and you can control the heat(get a can fan with an enclosed hood) and look into advanced nutrients. Do your research though. You dont want to over fertilize. BTW there are many totally organic advanced nutes. Good luck:)
