First grow when tits up

The first grow i did when tits up at the end big time.

I wasn't checking for bud rot, that was the first fuc*er then after i noticed the bud rot and dealt with it the best i could.

I then found a tiny seed on one of the female plants (i only had three), one of the plants had hermi'd. The one little seed turned into thousands of the bastads.

Still made my money, sold it at £130 a ounces and got seven and a bit ounce dry so happy days.

Anyway the question is what caused the hermie. Can heat stress cause it, most of the grow i was in the 90's. The other problem was the two timers that i fuc*ed that stayed on all night.

Both problems are sorted for the next grow with the money i got from this one. Reinvested in a 9000btu aircon and a relay for the lights.

Cheers for all the help you guy gave me to get me to this point.

RIU forever!

Hermie just from stress. Anything that could stress it out so things like the lights being off, and being too warm =P
Only thing to do is try to get it closer to a perf environment

Just out of curiosity, were the seeds fem'd?
I'm honestly beginning to doubt the hermie factor due to stress, and believe it has more to do with genetics. I read RIU a LOT more than I post, and there are (what I would say) many experienced growers with perfect growing conditions that have plants hermie on them. I posted this in another thread, but I have one plant finishing in my grow room that has literally been tortured (intentionally) to see if I could get it to hermie. High heat (upper 90's), crappy soil, heavy nute applications, busted main stem (OK, that was an accident), and she STILL hasn't hermied.
Granted if you are experiencing bud rot, you need to find a way to lower humidity and increase air flow in your room.
I honestly am starting to think that all these new strains - crossed with so many other strains - are causing weaknesses in the genetics. Don't even get me started on feminized seeds.
I've always used regular (non-fem) seeds, and if I have a male - I pull it. Not a single one of my fem plants have hermied...even through intentional abuse as mentioned above.
Any thoughts?

Oh - and over 7 oz. from three plants on your first attempt (even with the seed scenerio) is something to be proud of. It will only get better!
Best of luck!

I would like to think you are right about the hermie with or without stress but i think there is a lot to be said for hermieing to keep the spieces going.

Cheers for the big up about the grow, i vegged for longer than normall so they where big plants.

I agree...especially now when people buy mostly feminized seeds (I mean - jeez - can't blame them for wanting to avoid having to kill 2/3 of their crop once it starts flowering)...but I think some of these hybrids are a little unstable. I also agree that plants go hermie - not from stress - but in a last ditch effort to procreate. That scenario (IMHO) explains why you will find one tiny set of ball sacs (that must have formed late in flowering) while you're trimming. So...hermie is less due to stress and more A. Unstable feminized seeds and B. Late in Flowering desperation

Agree?

So what are we saying here?

Are we saying that it is not the abuse of the plant it is the genetics?

The plants that hermied on me was a afgan cross with maze. Also in the same grow i had northen lights, this would have turned out fine but the cross bread one fucked up the northen lights as well.

The seeds that i used where not fem'd.
