first grow with cfl - 20 days old and something is wrong

So here it is. My first grow. The plants are 20 days old and are a white widow and a critical Jack from Dina fem.(both femi)

my lighting is 1 x 125w 6500k cfl and 4 x 18w t8 5000k.

I use light soil mix and jungle juice for fertilizer. the first week i used cooled boiled water, and after that i have been using destilled water.
Havent used much fertilizer. But in the first week i dident have a PH meter, and the PH was arround 7,2 - 7-4, which i know is to high. but now it is 6.4 - 6.6.

The first couple of weeks i had the seedlings VERY close to the lamp (1-2 inches) and this is what im worried about. I have read that with cfls u can put ur plant in a stand still if they are to close to the bulb. Is this what has happend here? or could it be that the soil is now to high PH since the first water it got was not optimal.

The yellow leafing and dryness stoped assoon as i began watering with optimal water.

First 2 is WW and the second 2 is CJ. ( CJ was very slow out of the seed - see my other tread.)

I would like to answer you, but since I think CFLs are a big waste of time, I have no relavent information pertaining to CFL grows.

But, figured a bad answer was better than being ignored.

The PH was too high when u started, this has probably caused the yellowing. Now you have corrected I would use a little patience and see how she develops. If problem persists u will have to look at something else, I do not know the soil type but if you have just been feeding water why would the ph be so high, what is the ph of the water u were using? Did u ph ure soil mix?

It looks like nitrogen deficiency due to pH too high, but I wouldn't recommend feeding nutes just yet. Stabilize the pH for a week-and-a-half, don't over-water, then reassess at that time.

You need to stabilize things before you make any rash decisions. One thing at a time.

PH my soil.? Dident know that was a thing. :P the Soil Im using is light mix from bio green. Should be a good mix of perlite and the other things that are needed in the soil.
Ive completely stopped with fertilizer, and i have flushed them a few times, after wards i replanted the WW in a bigger pot, where i did ph test the new soil.
i have started 3 new seeds just to be safe. And after 3 days they are already up and ready to open thier leaves. So they are already looking much faster and better.
Pic will come later today.

Hey dude.. I'm not sure if you know why PH is so important when it comes to growing. It basically boils down to nutrient absorption in the root system. Here is a basic pic to try explain:

timthumb.jpg

So basically if the PH is too high or too low certain nutrients can't be absorbed which is basically where most people get nutrient deficiencies from. The thing about soil grows are that you cannot just flush the soil and balance the PH again because you will just flush away some of the nutrients in the soil (with inert substrates like coco peat and perlite this can be done because you introduce nutrients into the substrate).

My recommendation will be to replant them carefully into fresh soil and use clean RO water to water them for a couple of days and take it from there. After the transplant it will probably take about 2 - 3 weeks before they look 100% again.

In all honesty though I wouldn't stress too much dude, I've seen first grow that have looked a lot worse off than your and they still managed to recover.

Happy growing

i know the PH is very important. But im on a budget and it dident allow me to use destilled water from the beginng. And the yellowing has stoped. But i dident know that u couldent flush soil.
But the thing is, ive read that if put to close to the bulb the plant can go in dvale.("Sleep mode" - Dont know if dvale is a word in english.) And thats what im worried about. :( will it just start growing again now that ive moved the light a little further away.

here a the 3 new to the collection.
3 days old from germination.

Sorry for the upside down. Dont know why it does that.

And thx for the help. Will keep this thread updatet. Guess i post new pics in a weeks time. Any tips in the mean time is greatly Appreciatet. :)

i started all my seeds with cfls and kept them there for 4 weeks. also my first grow. now they are all outside one plant got heat shock from the heat wave we had a few weeks ago. i thought it was over for it but she bounced back. long story short these plants are very tough. you almost have to try and kill them. but the smallest change can prevent you from having a good yield/quality bud.

I have seen a few of your CFL grows linked here and there. I always think to myself when I see them "I would love to see what this guy could do with the equivalent HID". Some day you should do a comparison grow with the same strains under a 600 watt or 1000 watt HID and let us all see the difference if there is any.

You have skills, there is no doubt about it. Hopefully she will relent and let you take off from there.
