First grow

Ok so its my first grow ever im really excited as I did a lot of research but still got more to do just like any apprentice. Well my goal with this post is 2 things:

1) I want to grow 3 pounds in a 6 x 6 area , description of my TO BE setup grow below:

*****I will show pictures of the whole setup/grow for better visual as soon as all my stuff I ordered online gets shipped here*****

I want to yield 3 pounds in a 6 x 6 area doing a soil grow inside a metal shed I am building, its already made just got to put it together when it comes in from shipping. Ill dremel out some holes in the thin metal for the the 2 intake fans but one set to exhaust (8") an my inline(6") ac infinity fans in a push pull setup. Of course the intake filter and carbon air filter for clean and ordorless air. Now my setup is a bit of a hybrid because its outside in so-cal where its been surprisingly nice an even temps(65-70 degrees farenheit) but im covered by 3 lemon trees that provide nice shade for my whole shed and the trees may even raise c02 levels since my intake will be there. That aside I will be trying to make the shed pretty air tight an the base was made of basic 2 x 4's for the framing and 2 sheets of ACX plywood for the flooring. I plan on using vinyl waterproof vinyl on the floor and then I need something to make the walls reflective either with silver foil like product or white film to reflect all the light. Ill be trying to get a super soil set up and mixed, and then really the rest is just:

tips/ideas/advice that any of you guys can give me to yield 3 pounds and for first time growers..I know im ambitious for the first try but I want high quality DANK DANK ass buds and 3 pounds. I did some research an found critical kush is a canidate for my grow.

MY SECOND GOAL WITH THIS POST IS TO EXPLAIN :

2) Give a review an follow up on my KINGBRITE led I just bought today (05/18/20) and waiting to see how long it takes to get here and to explain some stuff I could not find anywhere on the internet.

Ok so I did all my research and got :
1 ) Kingbrite hlg550 v4 quantum grow light lm301h with separate control switch for cree 660 nm UV IR chips
2) Kingbrite 240W samsung lm301h mix cree 660nm uv ir quantum led board V4 led grow lights for indoor plants

I just ordered them so I will update the post when I get them to let you all know how fast and if they got here in one piece. I will of course update the thread if anything ever goes wrong with the light just to give an in depth view of what people are getting into buying these as I will find out.

Now some important info: So when I was searching and found the lights I want on alibaba I proceeded to add to my cart and then try an check out but I could not because the seller had to set the "TRADE TERMS" which basically means who pays (your or the seller)what in shipping and fees. So I could not pay through ali baba because the trader forgot to set the trade terms and we are on different sleep schedules (Im from the US) so I had to wait 3 days to basically ask if I can get a paypal invoice to avoid all the headache. Long story short that worked out amazing and it was both VIVI LIU and JERRY MENG. They did good, Jerry did mention a lil discount for the wait but I did not get it. Its ok though im just glad after 3 days I got the lights bought online.

I will also let you guys know of any other costs besides shipping like duties , vats an all that because I could not find the answer to this question anywhere for US people.

So yeah I just was seeking answers to my question of how to yield 3 lbs of high grade dank buds and to do a review/grow journal... Stay tuned.

Imo u should focus more on the basic of growing than the yield for a first timer and maintain healthy plants and perfect environement throughout the entire grow and having a dank results, if you get it right the yield will be easy to achieve after. Rather have less dank weed than shit ton of crap. Not impossible but i talk by experiences,
Goodluck

You don't have enough light for 3 lbs.
You would have to achieve over 2 grams per watt.
Not to mention this is your first grow........it's a major achievement for beginners to make it to flower.
Good luck.

Very interesting, I will be watching this thread as you get your supplies and set up. My first thought is making a metal shed air tight will be difficult, probably easier to buy a large grow tent and put that inside the metal shed. You mention lemon trees and shade, can you not just grow out in the open? Seems like a lot of work and investment when you haven't yet grown one plant yet. My favorite is Critical Purple Kush, for me it grows great with minimal effort compared to other strains I have tried so far.

My city dont allow outdoor cultivation but by california law I can grow 6 plants legally indoor or outdoor in an enclosed structure

But check this out you guys

Well I looked into making my own rdwc instead of buying an overpriced one because 3" bulkheads cost a lot. Listen up im about to give you guys some game , or some of you info you probably did not know.

I came to the conclusion that trying to grow big plants in a RDWC will not work if the pipe are not at least 3" in diameter because eventually the pipes will get clogged if they are less than 3" in diameter. BUT, as I was watching a video which ill include channel name only IF im allowed to, but anyways he was using 2" diameter piping with what looked like at least 15 gallon bucket containers. The important thing he said was how the piping will NOT clog because this RDWC system is not pressurized except the return line/pipe... So I can provide the channel and exact time stamp where hes explaining this if im allowed to share links or names to youtube channels. I just think its very important to know because I was under the impression and im sure many others were too that 2 inch pipe will not work for big plants in a rdwc system because the pipes will eventually clog up, but according to this guy who is reputable, he uses 2 inch piping in his rdwc and grew 2lbs per bucket...Id guestimate its a 20 gallon bucket at most....

@MickFoster Yeah true I think Ill go with 2 plants in a rdwc and take advantage of the fast veg times and keep it veg like it was a soil plant and then flower it to get those monster yields because I thought from what I read the longer you veg in the right conditions the more yield of flower you can get right?

Two people who I know in real life that have multiple eight-bucket RDWC systems that have grown just fine for years using 2" returns. I know another grower who uses 1.5" returns.

There are also people on this site who have successful non-3" return plumbing connecting their buckets.

PS. You are allowed to post links to other sites, including Youtube. Be warned though that most Youtube videos are shamed on this site as being non-factual nonsensical "broscience". Yours might not be, but you have been warned.

@BostonBuds Also yeah I was trying to get that shed airtight and here what im thinking. vinyl flooring and then silicone the edges and let it air out. From there its just installing some mylar or panda film for the walls since the shed does not have the most reflective metal inside.

Nice very good to know and even more of a reason for me know, I was like sheeesh I am gonna have to fork over the money to get a rdwc system with 3 inch piping but hearing you say this is even more reassuring thanks for the info!

OK I WILL BE GOING WITH A RDWC AND UPDATE YOU GUYS WHEN MY STUFF GETS HERE(JUNE 6TH SHOULD BE WHEN MY LAST PACKAGE GETS HERE) Ill set up the grow and then keep you guys updated on my progress. Also any nutrients or full nutrient kits like the part A and Part B kits..? Oh one more thing I only like INDICA so any high yielding strains that are potent , you guys recommend ? Ill look some up too but for now critical kush , blue dream are possible options.

Have a link or photo of the shed? I'm picturing a metal tool shed from home depot. Probably the easiest way to try and make it air tight is use a peel-n-stick membrane inside over all the seams and joints in the metal panels. Paint the inside of the shed white.

This is it right here. I know I should have got something taller . Now that I think of it I should have gotten a 8 x 10 with higher height than 5.5 feet but I already ordered it.
