So I have started my first grow ...I have 3 plants started ..they are about 3 inches high and are starting to grow little leaves..my question is when should I start them on the hydroponic system..and lighting ...should I transplant them when they gain a few inches into my hydro pots and water solution or should I just remain in soil and transplant them into bigger pots... I started them under some hone depot 5000k lights and am planning to stick them under a 1000 watt matalhalide light and ballast I bought ..I know I need a dam for the light ...what ta think?

NO soil anymore if they have roots showing.So, if you were planning hydro, why did you plant in soil? Organics into a hydro soup are a recipe for problems immediately. If you aren't a blockhead or heavy handed get your hydro unit ready. Meaning up and running and minus only the plant. Take the plant from the container and using very lukewarm water rinse the dirt from the root mass. Place in the net basket, or whatever it is you have planned, and go for it. The longer in soil the more rinsing.

You don't say how many watts or even what kind of light but I'm assuming CFL or T5,8,12 etc. And what is a "dam" for the light?

image.jpeg This is my first grow ... A white widow auto. Just curing right now. Although I must admit it smokes good already (: still got about 10 grams when dry left in the plant. So not bad. About an ounceimage.jpeg

Great job dude,this is my first grow a white widow and a cheese freebie. This is 20 days of 12/12. I'm currently using fox farms nutes. Started these in hydro got greedy and burned the roots badly in wk3 of veg, I transferred to soil mix and they seem to be doing fairly well. Any pointers to increase the bounty would be greatly appreciated.

Well they don't have roots showing yet and I was planning to rinse out the roots I am just waiting for my baskets to arrive which should be any day...and blockhead ?...give me a break.!...lol....but thank you for the reply ...have a nice day...everyone learns from the bottom up :)

I have to be honest I think i could have got more but I didn't want to slow down any of the processes by over feeding or watering or heat or anything so I simply put it in a nitrogen rich slow release soil and gave it water daily until it started to flower. Being an auto I left my light( 300w CFL ) on24/7 from start till finish. And only feed it the slightest nutes throughout flowering until the last week I went back to water. I think people tend to think the more you add the better the outcome but i think that might only be the case if u spend top money on the best products. Seeing as I'm only interested in smoking it myself and saving a few quid it's not viable. Ps I literally chopped my pant in half and the bottom is still budding nicely so to get the best smoke from the whole plant harvest the ripe buds when u can and lower the light to get the best out of the rest that hasn't seen as much light

Thanks for the info...I think after reading your post I will do the same...it is much easier to just let nature take its course with the soil ...good advice and thank you again

Just over 31 grams all in all. The last few buds are a little less dence but I'm smoking it now and although it's not a knock out smoke I like it. I usually smoke ami and it's kinda the same kind of taste and feeling without the I need to sleep for 2 hours straight after.

A dam is a fan...sorry..
But the lite is a 400 watt metal halide...had a 1000 watt originally but the cord plug was warming up so I thought it best to downgrade...if you read my posts I am sticking with soil first time ...I am new to this so water ...a little nutrients and soil will probably do me fine...cam be an Einstein first time around...lol
