Hey guys, I'm new to growing Marijuana. I've been studying lots and lots of videos about growing and its natural habitat. I haven't bought any equipments for the time being, because i want to make sure that i buy the right equipments for my growth.I am very edgy about my money and want to save as much as possible. I've studied about hydroponics but in my point of view its more expensive than regular soil growth. So my first grow, would be Soil , because I'm unfamiliar with High-Technology stuff. What will i be needing ?
 
nuber 1 proirity is lighting, you can start with cfls but later on in the plants life you might want to go with an hps,
cfl spectrum for vegitative stage is 6500k ablueish light aka daylights
 
I have a solid money source and I am also starting. It will be in a closet in my new house, and I want to buy the best equitment I can, without getting to complex with the setup. Say for 10 -15 plants what lights would you personally buy for the project. Does mylar actually work better that painting the walls some sort of flat white?
 
10 to 15 plants will need qute a lot of light and space, i can only fit two in my closet at the moment undder 1 hps and a couple cfls

i think mylar works best. And yeah, i'm planning to grow like only 4 plants due to room space. I'm going to grow it in my room without anyone knowing. Yes its going to be humid, but lets see what i can make out of it. where can i purchase those things to hook my CFL lights up to? and what are those called?
 
they are clamp lights, i just took the clamps off and hung em from the ceiling
you dont have a closet you ccan use?
 
well room or closet i'm not sure yet. but Clamp Lights? Can i purchase them at any hardware store? AND YES. that is exactly what i want my grow room to look like. what will i be needing? and i'm not talking about the ones you hooked up with you hps, i'm talking about the CFL ones.
 
you need the daylight 23 watt cfls for vegging and the warm whites for flowering ,your probably gonna need about 10 per plant for sufficient growth
 
home depot and walmart. Definately. But are the Electricity bills in your house expensive every since you started growing?
 
you can buy the wire thing with the plug on the end for 3 bucks plus the bulb socket for like 2 bucks and a connector to hold 2 bulbs for 2$ at walmart thats what i did seems like the cheapest way. anything you can find at both walmart and homedepot... its always cheaper at walmart lol thats what ive found out during my grow. gl and have fun with your treees :mrgreen:
 
hmm, I'll go check walmart and hopefully they have it if not then home-depot. I wanna start with a good soil mixtures and the nutrients ill be giving it during the cycle. What do you guys recommend? and I'm gonna be growing 2-4 plants how many CFL's would i be needing? And yes, i might think about buying a HPS 400watts later on in the process.
 
hps's are awesome much reccomended
i use fox farm nutrients
if you use just cfls you will probably want about 7 or 8 per plant for sufficient growth,daylight 6500k spectrum for vegging, and warm white for flowering 2700k
 
hmm, i've heard allot about foxfarms. I'm thinking about using a good combination of potting soil 60% perlite 15% building sand 10% worm castings 10% and a Pre Mix of 12-6-6.: 7-8 CFL's? god dang, it still sounds okay. If i was to say, I will be only using 5-10 weeks TOPs for the whole growth, how long should i stay in vegging?
 
I would get just plain soil and nutrients for them (food) also get some hps you can find some here ---http://www.1000bulbs.com/ and get some distilled water and your all set. Good luck.
 
5 to ten weekss will get you about an eighth most plants take about 5 to ten weeks just to flower
everything sounds good just no nutes till that plant is big enough to sustain it:)
 
wow. an eighth HAHAHA thats like an hour mission to finish :)
well, i guess ill put it in veggie for about 6-7 weeks than flower it for another 6-7 weeks. which will take about, 17 weeks to finish the whole process. No Nutes? okay but should i give it a HALF STRENGTH solution to it while its during is first week ?
 
u shouldnt give nutes for at least 3 weeks.. seedlings are so small that the soil is enough.. i being a noobie gave one of my plants nutes ( a very small amount) after a week and that thing burned and stunted growth. then when you do start... start small like 1/4 amount then work ur way up to full strength be careful dont burn ur plants! u can always add more but cant take out. gl:blsmoke:
 
You prove a good point right there. can i grow off from a box? like a real big cardboard box, say the size of a TV covered in Mylar ?
