First hydro grow

You know, I came here as a complete newby.
And was in a true learning curve.
I started with 23 sprouts, then down to 3 still growing, 1 was outside 2 indoor grown.
Put all 3 into a brand new hydro system. they grew different heights, I had to bend one over to keep the lighting level, I had them in the veg. stage for about 3 months and was ready to change the lighting schedule.
I read on here about this wonderfull lighting schedule, it sounded weird but I thought, My seeds are just regular but nothing special so why not 11.0/ON-5.5/OFF-1.0/ON-5.5/OFF found it on this very Blog!
And it turned on of them to the dark side(Male) so I segregated it from the rest, well I was in the hospital for 3 day and when I got home! the really nice 4Ft. tall one was covered in seed podz. and 4 days ago it had nice little red hair budz-now SEED'z.
I never thought I would get malicious help, that would just give me seeds, butter, tea. what else is a male good for?

Well I really need to decide if it's worth all the hassle,

Im sorry about the shitty info you were given and the loss of your plants, but unless you breed those males
Are trash! My advise would be to get clones from a friend or dispensery. Seeds are fine but if meds are needed
Put your money were theres better odds

Wow.. That sucks. Find some good people on here to ask questions and stuff. Some people on here are just here to cause trouble from what I have seen but I have met some really good people on here as well. Hellraizer has good advice. Finding some clones may be a bit easier and get you a good start again..

Good luck!

Hmmm... Sounds like you have hermaphrodites instead of males, with that lighting cycle you suggested I think the plants went into survival mode and have begun to self pollinate. Perhaps you can try germinating some of the seeds if that's all you can do, but as hellraizer has suggested clones are your best bet to get you started. Also make sure that you understand how these plants grow, they are able to veg in 16hrs (generally and with the exception of autoflowers) lights on minimum and begin to flower when you decrease the length of light. Generally the rule is when the day is as long as the night thus the reason for 12/12. It is essential that you understand you are trying to recreate the outdoor seasons indoors through your light cycle and environment. The fluctuation of light pattern your providing now would be comparable to someone entering their flower room when the lights are out allowing light to enter. This alone can cause your plants to hermie so you indeed need to be very careful with your crop. Good luck and happy growing.

Yes, I guess my first attempt went to hell with someone's wonderful help. And the extra money from the electric bill makes it that much better!
I want to try again but the only choices I have are dirt started or germinating with heat. I'm not buying a germination center.
So I'm not sure yet.

I know your discouraged but really you haven't done so bad so far, you had some growing but sometimes things don't go as planned. If I were you I would start over again and take a look at the basics, such as germinating a couple of seeds in a paper towel, then starting them in your hydro setup. Try to read up on water chemistry and how to get your PH set right while your seeds are poppin', I also recommend looking into some actual MJ grow books as they can be a great resource. Above all make sure when your reading on the internet and any other forum that what your reading is not someone trying something new or putting unfounded information out there. You will find that there is a ton of misleading and wrong information out there when it comes to growing MJ and for a new grower such as yourself this can be a nightmare and a bit of a challenge. If you really get discouraged try your hand at some hydro vegetables and look at some of the grow sites focused on that type of growing, a lot of those guys keep it pretty simple. Also you should document all of your procedures in a journal whether it be on here or private so that you can go back and see later where you might have made mistakes or find room for improvement. I am hoping that there are nothing but happy times growing for you and many successful future harvests.

I have grown plants numerous times, IN DIRT. but not hydro. and as far as
finding good advise, I thought I was there with this site.
I probably will try once again, but mayby start from dirt and then transplant.
Thanks for the sympathy and support guys.

I wouldn't bother with the transplant unless it's the only way you feel comfortable, for me a transplant brings a lot of stuff with it that always ends up in your res. Start looking at the basics with hydro, if you have grown in dirt the transition shouldn't be too hard. Most people will caution you with using rockwool but if you understand watering in dirt you should get watering in rockwool, just make sure that your not over watering as you would in dirt. I would germinate my seeds in rockwool plugs (1.5 inches x 1.5 inches) then once you see a sprout give it one more day then plug it in your system. Again you will have to watch you watering so the wool is not saturated but always moist until you have roots developed enough to reach your nute solution. Generally I just hand water when the lights are coming on every day in the small plug but if it doesn't feel dry on the outside I wait a few more hours or even another day. If you want to get hydro down I would try that or those rapid rooter plugs. Just some more food for thought, good luck and happy growing.

You should have gotten a second opinion.

There is more than just one "expert" here at RIU.

uh I'd probably start with a few good books bro. For real. Order some good seeds from Attitude or someone and get you a book on how to grow. You vegged for four months? You don't need a propagator. You have a lot of misinformation that you have to be able to sort through on the boards. The best way is to learn from a book and once you have your fundamentals you can seek further information to add to what you will already know.
