After 4 years off the weed (and any other drugs) i decided that any benefits i was going to get from being substance free should have happened by now, and it was time to get back on the pot.

My preference was to buy it in fairly priced ounces but was unable to find any stress free sources, so decided to attempt to grow some. Did a SCROG for the first time.

Initially wanted to go COB but the local shop had stock problems, so wound up buying a generic 600w HPS kit with 4x4 tent, 6" air filter and blower. (Got an extra MH lamp for veg)

Got seeds from Seedsman - 5 Monster brand GG#4 and 3 free Seedsman WW, all photo and feminized. Recommend Seedsman 100% based on my one time purchasing seeds on the interwebs:) Sent one of each type to a mate, and germinated the remaining 6.

11 Dec - All germinated, in jiffys with 18w CFL
14 Dec - all have popped

Day 1 popped.jpg
17 Dec - transplanted to first pots, fertigated with 1ml/ltr part A and B, with .5ml/ltr of superthrive and vinegar to ph6 *** way too early, seedlings burned
Day 3 first transplant into pots.jpg
30 Dec - fertigated with .5ml/ltr and put in tent.
4 Jan - Digital Ph meter arrived, turns out that local tap water is 7.3 and cheap meter was totally wrong, plants have been at a far too low ph, transplanted in to medium pots and fertigated with 1/2 strength (1ml/ltr) at 6.3ph (tap + nutrients, no ph adjustment)
7 jan - Frtigated with 1ml/ltr, added .66ml/ltr 40% PH acid to drop .5ph to finish 5.8ph
11 jan Fertigated with 1.5ml/ltr, PH to finish 5.9 First topping!
13 Jan - fertigated with 1.5ml/ltr, .66ml/ltr PH acid to finish 5.9, starting twice daily watering to waste.
14 Jan - fertigated with 2ml/ltr, 1 ml/ltr additives, PH to finish 6.1
16 Jan - added 54w 660nm LED with focusing ring removed. also added case fan to light hood.
17 Jan - transplanted to final 5gal pots, did a round of topping

21 Jan - broken too many stalks tucking, will change to tieing them down, did foliar feed with nitrozyme.
22 Jan - e.c meter arrived, mix is 1235ppm (adjusted), water is 200. (2ml/ltr ABmix / 1ml/ltr extras / .75ml/ltr PH to finish ph6.00
24 Jan - upping fertigation to 2.5ml/ltr base A @ B, 1.25ml/ltr nitrogen supplement, 1ml/ltr others = 1400ppm adjusted.
Ready to flip.jpg

28 Jan - Defoliated for pre flip
PB290008.JPG
29 Jan - flipped to 12/12 - plan big defoliate Feb 17
12 Feb - new cheap PH meter arrived, makes zero sense, 2ml/ltr acid seems to be right for bud food mix. ppm1600/adjusted
17Feb - Added 20w 730nm LED. Defoliated for bud
17 Mar - lights to 10/14 to try and hurry things up a bit
26 Mar - getting there... The top layer of screen was supposed to be a height limit on the colas, but once they started growing above it i found they were too thick to bend sideways (without resorting to supercropping) so used top screen to angle them away from the light

31 Mar - Flushing with just ph6 water till fully ripened
6 Apr - pics..

Update - all plants now manicured, total of 633g of dry buds, and a big bag of larf and sugar leaves. Pleased i pretty much got 1g/w (600w HPS + about 70w of boosters at various frequencies). I have made a lot of BHO over the last 15 years with other peoples larf, looking forward to making it from my home grown. :eyesmoke:

I have learned so much over the course of this grow. One obvious improvement i can make for next time is to do far less tipping. I wound up with far too many stalks, foliage got completely out of control, and could not physically access the lower stalks to remove the larfy stuff.

Also i could have defoliated more aggressively. Next grow i will remove all fan leaves every few weeks up till mid bud, with a heavy defoliate at flip and 20 days after.

The two strains grew totally differently, and the three GG#4 plants showed varying pheno's - two stretched severely, one stayed compact. The WW plant quickly grew huge nugs all over the stalks, but they did not crystal up till the last few weeks. The GG#4's on the other hand crystalled up within a few weeks of the flip and are super dense, but far less nugs per stalk and smaller nugs.

Cost / benefit wise, lol i spent about US $1500 to grow 22 ounces of super weed. Since top quality weed where i live is around $15-$20 a gram even just this grow puts me way ahead, not planning on doing another grow till i get down to last few ounces so hopefully a few years away :)

I think the buds are getting into the low 70's RH wise so into jars / clickclacks. The shutdown has borked my efforts to get big glass jars for everything. Around 22 ounces of bud, 3 containers on right are WW, 5 on left are GG#4.

Nice job! I don’t know where you live, but you can by ball jars from Amazon or Walmart and have them delivered. I’d suggest ordering some jars and some Integra Boost humidity regulator packs to keep your bud fresh much longer.
