First run with 15 BLI 315cmh

So after many moons running hps and specifically the Gravita de 1000w’s I decided it was time to try something new.

I choose to see what’s up in a small room That has been needing upgrade for a while. The room had 6 1000w vented hoods over 3 4x8 tables. There has been no need for a/c in this room, temps run at 82 in the middle of summer at night.

Plants live in 7 gallon black nursery pots and are fed daily from a simple drip system. I use Botanicare Kind pretty much as it says on the bottle with a couple of additives like MOAB, Sweet, Vitamino.

Plants get about 1 liter per day currently. I’ll add an additional water time and then a third as needed.

I pulled down the 6 1000’s and replaced them with 15 BLI 315’s. These suckers are expensive but I got a guy in Colorado Springs if you need some.

I usually test things out in the room so that is why there are so many strains.

I took these pictures last night after one more week of veg.

Added a net to the Purple Harijuana, they stretch big time and cause trouble with the low ceilings here. The rest will be staked about 2 weeks into flower.

Well I think it is time to flip this room already. Just took these while I was checking water and whatnot. Overall at this point, I am pretty stoked on what I am seeing.

Looking good I'm currently running a single 315 instead of my 600hps for my 3x3 I like the quality it's producing.. very frosty.

Week 1

Finished cleaning everything up a few days ago. Pretty stoked about how this round is going. I defiantly saved a week on my veg time.

Stretch is starting now. I added another net to the Purple Harijuana and will stake everything else at 3 weeks.

I started staking everything after these photos were taken. Additionally, I thinned out a ton of huge fan leaves to get more light and air into the canopy. No interest in a defoliation debate.

So far so good as far as the new 315’s go. This room has been running for quite a while and I haven’t seen growth or water uptake like I am seeing now.

1 15min watering of 3.5L per day when the lights come on. I’ll add another 5-10 mins when it’s time.

Finished staking everything up last night. I also striped out a bunch of old fan leaves that were in the way.

So far so good with the BLI 315cmh. Time will tell if yield and quality stack up. I can say this room is raging, I haven’t seen stacks or growth like this in this room.

Plants are getting 3.5-4L per day of feed. Over 20 minutes when the lights come on.

Start of day 21.


Things are stacking hard and I am pleased as punch with how this rounds going. Still no Co2 or AC in the room. Room is a down low house basement. Temps are 66 at night and 76-79 when the lights are on. Plants are taking up more nuts then I have used before, in fact they are draining a 55g res every three days.

They are getting feed 4L everyday when the lights come on.

Day 29.

Stuff is blowing up pretty well in this room. Plants are still getting 4L a day watered when the lights come on. I actually started getting worried about overwatering based on how heavy the pots were and skipped a day. When the lights came on the next day half the room was drooping. I also just had to buy some nuts, I always bought for the round and it lasted. This time everything ran out at the start of week 5 . All good signs for a good harvest.

I’ll add MOAB at the start of week 6 and use it at half strength for two weeks.

Day 35.

Not a whole lot to report at this point. Things are progressing as expected. Pretty good bunch of buds in place to swell up over the next four weeks. The lights are performing pretty well. I am a little concerned things won’t
firm up but light penetration seems to be pretty good.

This room would do 9-10 lbs no problem with 6 1000’s. I feel like I might go over that but who knows.

I’ll probably take some more fan leaves just to get a bit more light in the canopy. Also probably lower the lights in the middle row.

Plants are getting fed 4L everyday when the lights come on. Gonna cut my nuta bit and do two res fills with MOAB this week.

Day 42. 6 weeks in. Roughly 3 more to go. I typically run everything 9 weeks give or take based on my availability to do the trim work. These girls seem a few days farther along then I am used to so we shall see.

Plants are raging, much more then I have seen without Co2. Everything is rock hard and super stinky and sticky. Buds should swell up nice now.

I only run one res of Moab and that was last week so I am back to 4L per day of.

Flush starts after this res empties so in three days. At that point I’ll cut nutes by half for one res then it straight water until chop day.

Day 49. Two weeks left and I have started cutting back nutrients and switching to water.

Everything is pretty dank. As this is my first go with these 315’s I took a few more fan leaves out. Somewhat concerned about how good the penetration is but honestly things seem pretty swole, even in the bottom of the canopy.

I had to fire up an additional carbon filter to keep things in check. Overall I am fucking stoked on the harvest coming up.


Temps are coming up now that it is starting to warm up outside. I have thought about adding a mini split maybe I will this spring.

Plants are getting 4L a day when the lights come on.

Temps are 68-80 now pretty consistently.

Things are swelling up just a 6 days from when I am planning on chopping g this girls down. At this point For a situation that has lower ceilings or a spot you don’t want to add ac to, 315cmh from Boulder lamp crush it.

We’ll see how it looks when I cut it down.

These girls are getting the chop today. Overall I am pretty impressed with the lights. Seems like I might have had heat pocket or something a few tops fox tailed a tiny bit but nothing major. One table down so far and though nothing’s dry yet it’s looking like 1.5g a watt is gonna be around where I end up. Sure hope so. I had to go buy some new wire cause my old ones I use to hang them broke.
