First scrogg, opinions? Very last minute.

Hey guys, so last night I decided, after building a separate room for my recently added 400w kit, that i would try to scrogg the plants as best I could, to control hight and yield and whatnot

Pics below are off the plants before and after the netting. Only the two Russians are in the net, a third, clone of another strain, has been bent down to match the scrogg as best possible. I might still get rid of the clone

Strain is a white russian.
I could use some help here, just to make sure I did this correct. Thanks in advance.

last time I was growing I had a kind of paranoia about bending the stems too far. I liked to run a tighter mesh and bend everything as gently down as I could.

I have no idea if this paranoia was warranted, and I'd really like to hear from more experienced growers on the topic.

Yes there is such a thing. But you only learn how hot the fire is when you get burned.

When I repositioned the branches heavily to fill an empty area, this happened. It was a day or two later when she broke.

This branch supported about 1/4 of my screen and this plant was not prepped well for scrog.



Sad sad day... Here is the part that broke off. Burn!


The good thing is that when your plants are vegging and something like this happens, they grow back quickly enough.

Yeah my net does need to be tightened up, I'm gonna add more spaces over the next few days. This morning they liked excellent though, turned back to the light as they should be

Ya... Should have seen the look on my face when it did tho :/

We got to get you some LED man! Even if you add just a bit of white light to your set up, you'll notice a difference! Your canopy looks great BTW!

Thank you, i was thinking about picking up this 38w pole top led, 300w equivalent, at Lowe's, but wasn't sure if it was worth it. Was gonna hang out between my rooms and let it bleed 5000k all over the place lol. Would that work though? It's a 50 dollar light,and don't want to waste the money over Xmas unless it's necessary

When it comes to those types of lights, the 38W being equivalent to 300W is only referring to lumen output and probably those Halogen work lights. If it is a true 5000k, It will definitely help but @ only 38w, you may need more than one for it to cover your entire space. For 50 bucks tho, It wouldn't hurt to experiment with it. One in each corner @ 20" from the canopy would be more like it. The extra blue light will help with the trichome development.

Thank you. I'm gonna look into that. I bought a small 9w led bulb yesterday. Red and blue spectrum, 440 and 650nm or something. Replaced the white cfl I had shining up from pot level lol. Makes the bottom of my plant look like a laser show haha. This is a pic of the undergrowth of one of my plants. I think the hormones must have been trapped where I first trained this girl. It's amazing what's going on down there. Must be about 8 shoots, growing awesome considering how far they are. Now that led is pumping up into the area

Shoot I forgot to ask, that 38w pole top, would I not have to keep it farther from the plants then a normal cfl let's say? I have about 3 feet between my two flower rooms, all in one space with a dividing wall. If I hung it in the doorway would it not spill into both rooms adequately? If you look up the light, it has led wrapped around the whole pole top, so I'm thinking it could work that way?

IME its much better to grow the plant into the screen than to grow the plant then train it to a screen. My current ones were already too big by the time my net came in so I'm fighting that very problem now of carefully wrestling them into place. I had a big main branch break two days ago on one that's just a few weeks from done, luckily I was able to zip tie the branch back on almost immediately, the leaves haven't so much as drooped, that snap is the worst sound lol

No I hear you I'm dealing with the same thing with the exception of not having to fight so hard. They were only a week into flower when I built the net. Now every night I go up and train to the net, and it seems to be working
