First small cabinet grow journal seed to harvest [PICS]

Hello everyone,
This is my very first grow journal on RIU. This will be my third small grow now, but (hopefully) only my 2nd successful one. I will be using a small cabinet I am outfitting to hold a 100 watt HPS lamp, and I will be using 1/3 soil and 2/3 perlite mixture. I will be growing two small plants and posting the pictures every day or so. This picture is from yesterday, so technically this grow began on January 7th.
I do not grow for yield or to sell; more for personal pleasure. Whatever I get from these plants, I will smoke for myself or drop a bud on a friend. So keep in mind this might be boring for those of you who like seeing massive yields ;-) Without further ado, here is day 1! I will update tomorrow when I plant the seeds (they should have sprouted by then) Thanks for looking!!

Edit: Oops, I forgot to mention about the plants - they are some random seeds a friend of mine dropped on me. He says they are probably indica, but only time will tell. So you all will be figuring this out with me! Haha.

As promised, another update. Today is day 3, after two days in the wet paper towel, my seeds still have not sprouted, but I have decided to plant them anyway. Here is a simple picture of them sitting in their new home, my small cabinet. I will update again once they have breached the soil!

Hello everyone!
Great news today. Both plants have breached since my last update. Not only that, they appear to be thriving! Although I am a little worried about the height they are reaching without the leaves coming out. I am thinking they must be sativa? Regardless, they are looking good. Here's a picture:

The one on the left was the first one to pop; the one on the right was the slow bloomer. I apologize for the lighting, HPS makes it difficult. Will continue updating.

it looks fantastic man im pritty much along the same track u are but my babys are a bit older than yours i'll be following your jurnal very closely man good luck

Hey man looking good. How far away from your plants is the HPS sitting? They may be stretching for light. Even thought they're seedlings you might be able to move the light closer to them without burn. Anyways, Good Luck! Hope all goes well.

Hey sfcc thanks for reading my journal.
The plants are about 2 feet away from the HPS lamp. I would lower the lamp, but I purchased it used and it did not come with hangers. I just drilled a hole, about 10"x12" on the top of my cabinet, and I have the ballast sitting on top of that. Today they are spreading wider leaves. I watered them and will be posting tomorrow's progress with pictures :mrgreen: Keep smokin

Well today the plants are looking quite different. The plant on the left was the late bloomer; it is looking happy and healthy. The plant on the right was the first one to bloom, but it looks dried out and it's first leaves are already drooping, so I am a little worried. I don't think it is overwatering or underwatering - I give each plant about 1/2 cup of water every other day. So who knows! Maybe it will grow stronger in the days to come.

Hello everyone, Happy Tuesday! Today is a good day, congratulations to Obama! Anyways, I wanted to post an update today. For I have bad news and I have good news. The good news is that I took sfcc's advice and thought to myself "How can I get the lights closer to the plants?" And after about a solid 20 minutes, I thought: RAISE the plants! So the light remains sitting on top of my cabinet, but the plants are now sitting high on top of some books are are thriving!
The bad news, I am an idiot and I think I snapped one of them in half. "Dot" as I have named it, (in MMO's "Dot" stands for Damage Over Time, and this poor plant is surely getting Dot'ed) Dot was the plant on the right in all the pictures - the scrawny looking one. Anyways, my friend told me about a method to grow several shoots of branches, by nearly-snapping your plant in half and then a new branch grows in. I'm sure you've all seen it. Anyways I snapped it 1 day ago and I am not seeing any new growth, which worries me. Everyone pray and help this plant make it through in such a difficult time!
Oh also as you can see, I have named the other plant Lefty, because it's been in the left of all the pictures I have posted so far. Today's pictures are nicer, I took them under a 60 watt CFL so you can see my green babies!

Hey man, I am using 2/3 perlite and 1/3 organic soil.

I think your talking about supercropping right? Im not sure if you can do it that early. Either way, mj can take a lot. Ive snapped some branches over on accident before and they just repaired themselves by growing a large knot at the bend. Did have to help it stand up for a couple days at first though...

Supercropping sounds like it. Where the plant looks like a bonsai tree almost, with lots of thick branches coming from near the base of the plant. Anyways I took your advice yesterday and strung up Dot, tomorrow I will post progression.

I took some new pictures today. I didn't bother taking pictures of Dot, she is in the same condition, except all strung up in my grow cab. I don't think she will make it :roll:
Lefty looks very happy though. About 4 days ago I decided to try the "fimming" method where you cut the new growth and get 4 new shoots instead of 2. It appears to be working, I am stoked :mrgreen: You can check it out in pic 1. Pic 2 shows Lefty in all his glory, but his leaves seem to be curling a little bit, I am not sure if that is underwatering or what, but he looks acceptable to me.

Hey everyone.
Three days ago, I officially killed "Dot". It was too soon for her to die! But she was struggling. It's okay though, because now I can just focus on getting Lefty all good and strong, except it is developing spots on its leaves, which worries me. Any ideas? If you look you can see the grow from where I have fimmed it, I am very pleased. I was watching a video on YouTube the other night and a guy started flowering 34 days in, and flowered for like 60 days or so. I was curious on everyone's thought, when do you all think I should start flowering? Seeing as how I have such a small grow space, I was thinking I would start flowering on Day 30 so I could flower for 60 Days and it wouldn't get too big for the cabinet??
Also in other good news: I was packing a bowl of my favorite smoke, White Widow, and out popped a little seed! I am so happy, I love white widow! It will be my next grow journal :-P

Hey all sorry for the long gap between updates. Much has changed since my last update. First off, I have started playing around with Low Stress Training, like bending the branches and what not to "supercrop". Anyways, I had an unfortunate loss. I went to cut a string from the main stalk. Maybe I was just too stoned, or maybe the razorblade was just too sharp, but either way, it cut through both the string and the whole new growth (which resulted from last posting's "fimming") on the top of the stalk. Whoops!
The good thing about this is, now I have been training the plant into thinking the next two branches down are to be turned into the main one, and they are both growing at an excellent rate. The only problem is that the leaves are turning yellow. I wasn't sure if the roots were getting enough space, so I moved the plant into a 3 gallon container. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
Tomorrow I will be heading to Home Depot; I am going to try and build a miniature bubbleponics system in a 3-gallon bucket or tupperware container. This means that when I finish the project (hopefully by tomorrow evening) I will be transplanting Lefty into hydroponics. I am going to assume this will shock Lefty and he will stop growing for a little bit; so I am going to keep vegging for 20 or so more days. Then I will flower for 60-90 days, depending on what color my buds are. Here's some pictures for you to enjoy; the third picture shows where I accidentally cut off the top of the stalk!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Just kidding, I hate Valentine's day. Talk about a day like any other that's just been ruined by love. Damn!
Anyways, Lefty continues to thrive. I am still trying to figure out the sex, but if I'm not mistaken, those would be two baby pistils in the 5th picture, which hopefully means a girl! The hydroponics thing never came to fruition, the selection for hydroponic materials from the local home depot/garden shops/Yard Birds was absolutely riciculious. I ended up having to order the bucket and stuff from an online site. I just started Lefty on 12/12 flowering so I probably won't do the mini-hydro setup until my next grow. Oh yeah, and I have been smoking Northern Lights - this is by far my favorite smoke to date, I have a happier high than on white widow.
