My mentor told me "keep it simple and stop fucking around with shit. If you don't have experience." I guarantee about 70 percent new growers who start hydro crash and burn faster than you can say grow.

1. It builds the community up
2. Usually people who fail after there first try quit
3. Saving money to continue future grows is the most important to me. I want this community to grow. So we all get a colorful experience.

Your correct in saying I want to save money, practice technique etc etc...I do t want to jump into the deep end straight away,, id like to practice the basics first and hopefully get a decent crop at the end which will want me to keep doing and doing and doing till I know I can move onto all the hard stuff like the hydrostatic and cocos.

Green arrow, if I PM you can you give me a sort of mini straight to the point guide in how to grow using your method of Promix? Or you can just write it down here with a reply and maybe others can view and voice there opinion on this. I'd also appreciate it so much as you defo understand where I am coming from lol

I agree a lot of Alpha Male wannabes. The problem is people go fast and furious when buying all these supplies. End up crashing faster than the hindenburg.

Hydro and spills are like coffee and cigarettes. Had my fair share of spills. Then adding too much pH up or pH down which kills the ppms which you got flush the whole system again.

I feel with a lot of the new members in this community. They buy too much. I have went through that phase and don't want anyone here end up in debt.

My mentor spends at most 300-400$ with equipment and has yield in plant matter more than half a pound.

His setup was simple and easy.

Doer is good role model where you want to work up to.

Take it easy and make it simple the first time around to anyone who is new. Make your hobby into a passion. Don't smother your plant with too much love.

But, the point about status is us Alpha male wannabes, start with hydro and fail. So, if you want to bruise your status ego, then by all means, start with hydro. :)

But, if you are just trying to grow, at all, something like Promix may have better results for some.

But, for me, I like to tinker....for self status. Promix will have self control issues. You cannot water or feed very much. So, when I tried potting soil type mixes, I failed. I over did it.

Coco and hydroton, means I cannot do that. It all flows though each day. And a good root ball seems to feed on what it wants. So, a bit heavy on the PPM that week, doesn't hurt them. I can measure the run off and adjust.

And then there is the learning curve. I need a good reproducible system, with constant yield. And just me, I want to control variables. So, it is a two tracked Learning process. But, it all goes together. Learn the plant and learn the system and learn the plant in your system that is bound by your location, stealth and funds.

And there is nothing wrong with experiments. I experiments for 2 years before I found my ticket.

So, start Promix, try to clone, also, plan an auto feeding system, spill water everywhere. Such fun.

Keep the posts coming guys, your all fantastic! Iv found a lot of nice people on this forum, and will learn a lot from you all!

You got that right. "First thing? Do nothing."

Think about your lack of calm, next. I do believe plants are part of Vibes.

So, I spent $5000 on equipment. But, I knew not to. I did know I was spending too much. But, that didn't stop me. So, if like me, you write that off to prototype, fun and learning, it isn't so bad.

I've broken even.

What I mean, Arrow, is that each, situation, location, stealth, and funds, setup will be different.

That's the problem with Status. Especially self status or bragging rights. We have to succeed somehow. And for me and many what defeats us is our location and trying to get a steady supply from an indoor space.

If I had an acre. I'd have spent the $5000 on a small tractor with attachments.

Anyone want to buy my 1/4 horsepower chiller? That is the only excess equipment I have.
But, I did buy a lot of totes, containers, pumps, hoses, lines, and tools, I didn't use very long.

The main consideration is will you grow seasonally or one plant and a time and put up product to last you?

Or will you try for a setup that produces regularly? This one is more expensive and more trouble but more reward.

Look into flushing, OP. Also, you're going to want to do some serious defoliating if you are ever going to achieve those high end yields.

Both very true statements. As a guy, my dna is predisposed to make me believe I'm correct, of course-LOL

Everyone tends to over think it in the beginning. I'm a soil man v hydro simply because it's a fraction of the maintenance. Granted, you yield less, but the yield to effort ratio is actually higher with soil (for me). I never ever worry about air temps and pH and I grow plenty of great bud in dirt, using LED household bulbs. I spend about one minute a day checking plants, about 10 minutes if they need watering. If you're looking for a challenging, interesting hobby, grow hydroponically. If you want top tier bud with minimal effort, use soil.
