Hey all. So I was thinking about doing an attic grow and I only have about five feet. I was wondering if anyone had ever seen a successful setup like this. I'm thinking about mounting lights on the sides pointing down at an angle. should work fine just make sure you have proper lighting and ventilation and only vegg your plants to about 2.5-3 ft so they dont outgrow your space. your looking at a good chunk of cash to start up a system like that and may want to give soil a go around and 1 plant before you invest a shit ton of cash for your first grow.
So I think I'm going to eventually do two different stations. one for veg and one for flower. I'm going to hang a 3 metal halides for veg up top since I dont have to worry about the height problem in the veg stage. Heat will be a problem in an attic space with that much light.
6x600w will go for 1200 to 2000 depending on the manufacture and bulbs will cost more of course. you want
cool tube or nice reflectors? add another 50 or more per unit. and you will need timers for them and
dont forget the electric cost of running all that and air pumps and water pumps.
Then figure in the material cost to build the rooms. and nute cost to supply plants in large numbers.
you can see where this can become a very expensive past time if you go all out.
Maybe start with 1x600 and build in such a fashion that increasing the foot print will be a simple
process.
Plan now and your cost will be more controllable.

Yes in the winter too. The AC cost may not be as much but you still have to
move the air around so the ventilation system will be the same all year round.

Sure those are ways to control your electric cost however the setup cost may vary depending on the fans and ducting needed.
venting outside cold through ducting may cause problems with condensation. Design will be
key to controlling moisture and humidity.

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to look at the big picture but things can be overwhelming at first. Are those lights I posted even any good?
