So this is my first grow and im growing OG Kush in my closet. I have 4 plants about 6 weeks that each have 2 40w Daylight CFL bulbs 1-2 inches away. I am using just generic food so far so I hope that enough, and I feed them by soil every other time I water them (I water them once every 3 days) and I foilage feed them every time I water. I have one 10inch fan. im hoping to get at least an OZ a plant and I know I don't know yet if they will be male or female but about how big does it need to be to get an OZ per plant?

there is no definete way to tell if ur gonna get an oz per plant, each strain is totally different. what i would suggest is that u veg them till there around 2' tall, from that u should get at least 1oz per plant.

an OZ per plant with 2x40w CFL's is a bit of an unrealistic target. 6x40w CFL's per plant then maybe OZ per plant.

Its not about how tall the plants get its more about training and manipulation of the plant to make use of ALL the light available , those CFL's are only good if you keep them within a few inches of your plants , that means every part of the plant, top middle and bottom, which is where plant training comes into play.

Ok well when I do flower them I do have a 600w HPS Lamp, Ballast, and Reflector kit so that should help produce when its time for that

yes it will as long as you exhaust your room properly. i personally use a 600w hps and they run real hot. Non exhausting rooms will quickly run high temps +90F/32C which is too high.

I run my flower room at 24C/75F daytime 19C/69F nightime.

Have you planned for an increase in temps when using the 600w ?

you need to plan now .

I usee a speed controlled aircooled hood with 440CFM/660m3h fan just for the light. it is a little overkill but i like the control, this lighting system is sealed, as in no growroom air is going through it, it has its own cool air intake and exhaust through my attic. Then i have a fan and filter combo to clean the air .

YOU WILL NEED A GOOD CENTRIFUGAL INLINE FAN.

typical cost of a fan and filter is approx $300/150GBP .

With HPS and inline fans comes the need to exhaust HOT AIR as far away from your growroom as possible and not just dumping back into your growing area.

You should really begin looking into growroom design and setup as you have alot to learn and if you dont look into it you're goona cook your plants.

Hey I keep my 600 watt HPS about 1 foot away from plants... I used the hand thing to find where you don't feel the heat and it was about 1 foot is that a good distance?

That is a good distance because you want to make sure that your plants aren't getting too hot but if the light is too far away you will be wasting light a good vent fan can help reduce the distance from the plants you need to keep them cool. The closer the light is the more your plants will absorb and giving you bigger buds.
I agree wit jond if you havent gotten a fan to help air exit the room you should and it should be attached to the light to keep it cooler post another pic of the setup you have now or will soon have
