ive been growing this white widow strain.. its my first grow in my closet and i am 2 and a half weeks into flowering everything is lookin pretty nice for my first grow. lots of new growth new white hairs and good looking leaves my plants are about 1 foot tall and both have 6+ nodes ive read up for the past 4 or 5 months but there is so much to take in i just have a few questions.. im using 3 cfl's and 2 flourescent bulbls im growing 2 female plants in a 3'x2' area is this good??
i dont expect the yeild to be as much as using a HPS bulb or a MH bulb but im tryin to the amount of money i have right now air circulation is perfect so is the head and humity any suggestions that could help me produce bigger yeild and more potent buds?

i plan on getting 1 400 watt HPS bulb think i could grow a good grow with just one of these??

and what is the best website to get your lighting from?

?? I have not seen T5's at any wallmart in 2 states around here so I would snag em if they got em by you.

You will more then likely find T8's or 12's and they carry them in 24",36" and 48" bulbs by gro-lux. you can also just add a few more CFL's too and you should be fine. (From what I have read anyway...lol) see if the WM by you has 42w cfl's

I am on my first gro. Just been doing lots of reading and since these came free from attitude I am starting with these: DURBAN POISON and KC Brains Haz.
they just cracked and I gave em their new home. I will prolly start a first gro thread since I had such fun building my stealth gro area. I am starting with CFL's and I got a 400w HPS/MH on its way. I doubt you will find any t-5's at wall mart but the t-8's seem to be acceptable.

Oh and ya might check these guys out for the 400w

Dont order it yet tho, I just ordered mine today and just got e-mail w/tracking# and it says expected del is fri. I will let ya know how it looks/works. I cant see how he could sell that setup so cheap.
I will prolly pull the ballast off the light tho.

Sorry to have to tell you this but I wouldn't order from that seller. He has an Ebay store on Ebay Canada too. I ordered a Jumble Hydroponics Tent from him and it's killing my plants. I know that it's a different product but I just wouldn't trust him :|

Thanks for the heads up. Like I said, I'll give my .02 when I get the light. It's too late for me as I sent off the mo so I'll just have to take my chances now. He has 2 stores on ebay and alot of positive feedback so I figured it was worth a shot.

oh brother, you better start shopping online, or better yet have some one you trust do it for you, go to the hydro farm, or hydro hut, hydro wholesale, t5 HO's are the way to go with flourescents, or buy a big CFL with a reflector hood. Other than that, save your money for a HPS, nothing less than a 400w if you want decent compact bud. From what I see in the picture you will be lucky to get a quarter oz.!

Hey DF1,

Don't get too frustrated. Each grow is a learning experience.

Walmart and Lowes both carry T5's where I live, but they are not worth buying. The watts and lumen output are too low.

If you go with T5"s, get the HO (High Output) at a hydro store or online. Depending on the manufacturer they come in 2, 3, & 4 foot bulb lengths and go from single bulb to 8 bulb configurations. Very low heat so you can have the light nearly touching the plant, compact, efficient for less energy use and pretty high light output. Not as good light output as an hps, but no heat either.

I run two of the 2 foot 4 bulb T5's in my grow closet. Love them.

I'll upload a pic of my two girls, White Widow and her sister, Blueberry, two weeks into flowering later tonight when the lights come back on. Grown under T5's from the start - hydro though.

Go Green... Grow

it looks like those t8's should be put closer to the plants, lets say run them along side the plants midway up the plants, one on either side, and the other cfl's should be put closer, 1-4 inches is ideal, maybe get something reflective underneath the plants...

DF1,

How are the girls? As promised, here are a couple shots of my White Widow (left) and Blueberry (right) at the end of the 2nd week of flowering.

They have been under the two 2 ft. 4-bulb T5's from the start. I'm pleased with the T5's. I could probably do better with a hps that is air cooled and vented, but I've lost 5 grows from too much heat until I went with the T5's.

Grow and learn. I guess.

Good luck,

Knally
