This is my first time growing and I have decided to do it because I'm tired of reading and thinking about and I am just going to do it. I set this up in one of these crawl space/storage things i have in my house and it has like a 3 foot door and then some storage and then behind some junk and a sheet is my setup.

BOX AND SETUP It is in a cardboard box but I'm not really concerned about heat because I'm using CFLs and only about 3 plants. so the box is about 42"h X 24"w X 18"d and it sits on top of a 13 gallon Rubbermaid that has three holes in it for the net pots. This setup becomes really cheap when you do it the way i did it. Some of the items i received via 5 finger discount at fred meyer(it like wall mart in the NW kinda).

Lighting
4 X 42w 2700k bulbs approx.10000 lumen(switched for 23w 6500k when i flower)

8 X 23w 6500k bulbs approx. 10000 lumen

1 X 60w incandescent plant light(my room is pretty cold)

8 clamp lights with removable sockets. These are really cool because you can take them out of the clamp and you have 150w socket at your disposal that is reletively easy to attach in your grow room. i just poked them through my cardboard box after cutting an X and they fit snuggly right in there.

Water system
DWC Bubbleponics with net pots hydroton expanded clay and rockwool.
3 20-30 gallon fish tank air pumps with air stones.

Nutrients
Supernatural 3 phase set
i got this for free at my hydroponic store that i go to. it was my second time in there and i was talking to the guy about nutrients and said that i didnt really think i was going to buy anything and he was like well we have some sample stuff and dug around in a small box then was like...actually have this it will get you throught your first harvest. They were like 25$ so that turned out to be a nice little gift.
Comes with Grow Aqua for veg
comes with bloom aqua for flower
comes with super boost for rooting and flowering

Cost
Cardboard- Free i used a box i had
Rubbermaid- Free i had one
8 Sockets- Free but like 5 bucks each if paid for. i just slipped of the label and put it in my pocket. its just a cord with a light socket on the end.
4 23w 6500k- free or 15 bucks for 4 pack
4 42w 2700k- free or 10 bucks
Nutes- Free, dont steal these haha or 25$
hydroton- 10$
net pots- 1$, 4$ total for 4 pots
air pump- had one bought one, 15$

so this setup cost me 29$ haha but its 139 w/o nutrients so depending on nutrients....this set up with these nutrients would cost $164 if you had to buy EVERYTHING. but odds are you might have some of this stuff lying around or an unattentive shopping center like i do.

You have the flowering bulb and the veg. backwards. you want the 6500k for veg and the 2700k for flowering.

Yea I was going to point that out too lol. You want 2700k cfls for flowering and the 6500k cfls for vegatative stage. Post some pics when you get it setup. What kind of seeds are you using?

i guess i just wrote it confusing. i have the 8 23w on right now and they are 6500k and when i said i would switch the 2700k 42's for the 6500k i meant first the 6500k then the 2700k for when i flower so i have 4 of the 23s and 4 of the 42s, or i might just add 4 more sockets and the 42s for 12 total lights.

i am using bagseed but they are only good lookin ones. i got a seed from a dank sack i had a while ago and i picked out 5 (dark stripey)all of them germinated and i put three into the setup already. there are 2 more that are chillin in rockwool for kicks. i fed one of the seedlings to my hampster...he liked it.

i forgot to mention that in terms of ventilation/circulation i have an oreck air purifyer that is pumping air in. the fan is blowing into the box, i dont know if i should have it like that or if i should suck the air out by placing the suction vent in the box and blow air outside. i had it set up to suck the air but it wasnt really moving much so i did it this way.

i dont have the ability to take pictures right now(no camera) but i will post some. until then i hope you have a good imagination

Aye Where Did U Get Al Dem Lites 4 29$
i didnt. i got them for free haha. i paid 15 for the fish pump 4 for the pots and 10 for the hydroton thats my 29 dollars. the whole setup would cost like 150 with the lights being about 30 for the 23w bulbs and 40 for the 42w bulbs. but i decided to bypass the cash register and walk out the door.

Sprouts are out of the rockwool and my camera is on the way. they have leaves that resemble mj since its about day 3 out of the cube. one of them interestingly has 3 embryotic leaves...oh well more phyotosythesis. i have 8 23w cfls (6 bright 4 soft) and 2 42w softs just hanging out near the top. 4 of the 23 brights which i picked up for 97 cents at lowes today are in a movable fixture which is a hung up socket from a cardboard ceiling with a book on top of it(lord of the rings trilogy, its a big one) and i attatch 3 y splitters to make it a cool little fixture i have seen on here before. and the other two are in y spiltters on the front and back of the setup just stuck in the cardboard one of each soft and bright in those. 42w are stuck in cardboard about a foot and a half from the top.

sorry for no pictures but i will get them in a couple days. i was wondering when stems ussually start to thicken up because mine look kind of frail and are about 3 inches tall and i dont know if i should worry or get a fan because it seems the air current is just above them.

it depends on the bulb, but the k is a term describing the color spectrum of the bulb. so it is specific to the company. look at the box or the ballast. cool or bright is 6500k and soft or warm is 2700k
