first time grow!

Hey guys, im new here and im starting my first grow. Im building a 6x6 8ft tall grow room, and i want to grow 9 plants, under 2 1k watt mh/hps lights. I want to arrange them in a 3x3 pattern. Doing only 9 plants in a 6x6 room should give my plants plenty of breathing room, i plan on vegging for a pretty long time, i want them nice and bushy. My questions are as follows, is 2x1k watt lights enough for a 6x6 room? Im doing soil, what size pots should i use? Is this a pretty decent plan? Also im growing 3 Dna genetics sour creams, 3 serious seeds white russian, and 3 biddy early. Im just looking for some feedback and advise so let me know! Thanks guys

4,000 (minimum)-10,000 lumens per plant, at least 5 gallon pots if you're vegging a long time, preferably bigger than that =)

Place your lights in the middle of your 6'x 6' area and space them a foot apart. If they are rectangular i would recommend a 2 x 4 plant grow so you have room to work around the plants and keep them pruned and tied up and closely observe them so u can learn about how these plants grow and what your doing to them. This will save you a little on nutrients and you can make your plants much bigger if you want because you have so much ceiling height. Veg them to be a foot and a half tall and then put them into flowering. That will be perfect for your 1000 watt lights to be 2 and a half feet above the plants keeping heat off your garden and letting it rise above the lights and be removed by ventilation.

HEy bud first of all good luck on your plans I to help my fellow RIU members so I will throw in literally 2 bits of info :) lol, the dimensions you are giving will work IN MY OPINION IF!! **# 1** You select the correct strains, I think we all know it Always starts here but, the last thing you want is some bag seed or random strain that you had no idea had an average's height of 6-7 feet, or a "stretchy" strain with branches that are 2 feet long, not to mention topping! so obviously after you have chosen your strains, **# 2** would be TEMPEMTURE!, if you can try to but Cooling tubes, they run anywhere from 60-120, but if you haven't bought your light can be included in your order at a discounted rate and save on shipping! and of course FANS, rotating fans, I like to have 2 small ones and then 2 Mini ones (like for inside cars/trucks), I place them up In the corners, every degree can help when your working in small areas! I know first hand! again GOOD LUCK, and one love KEEP US POSTED :leaf: until then check out the site!!

Awesome guys, i really like strong, huge yield bud. And i really enjoy concentrates... and there better with multiple strains. Im thinking of just 2-3 big yielders, one indica dominant, one sativa dominant, and i want a reputable breeder, and to produce a lot of good sugar leaves. I know im asking a lot, but what are your reccomendations? How many fem seeds should i buy to guarentee i get at least 8 good plants? Thanks guys :)

2-3 different strains. Should i build my room rectangular, and do two rows of 4? Maybe a 4x8 room? Then i can space my lights a little farther away. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Figure out how much coverage your lights will have at 2 and a half feet above your plants then build it to those dimensions i would build a 5x8 so you have added room for working and moving around your plants and optional room to space out your plants if you end up vegging em to long your first time. place the lights about a foot and a half apart and hang em about 2 to 2 and a half feet above your plants with no glass on them. Remove hot air from the top of the room or as high up as you can .

Yea, you can even go to 2 feet, they usually double in size or a little bit more (depends on genetics) so be careful not to make em too big your first time otherwise you might have issues with too much foliage and plant height. Remember your buckets are 14 inches of the ground to start so 2 feet to start is 38 inches from the ground, adding another 2 feet is 5' 2" off the ground. You said you have 8' ceilings, by the time you hang you lights a foot from the ceiling you only 22 inches to play with your light height if you plants double in size from 2 feet. That might be too close might not be but having the flexibility to raise your lights more would definitely help you out more as you adjust your room.
