Where you able to get rid of the fungus growing on the top? Keep us updated on how the reduction of nutes worked out for you, hopefully they will bounce back just fine. I will deff keep checking in here as the setup is cool and interesting. I ust started my own grow and am currently on Day 8. Check it out if your interested.

Good luck!

Bro,

Looks like your rock whool is molding, it is too dark and moiste. This mold can spread to the roots. If you can try to verify that it's the rockwhool... then cut it away and hope your roots are still viable..

Rockwhool has problems :( Not good for first grow IMHO

Subbed :) Nice little setup you have. I'm not a fan of MG...be careful feeding as it already has fertilizer in it...I burned the shit outta my first grow with it...I'm all organic now...live and learn ;)

Shes getting a little too large for the solo cup anymoreeeee. =)View attachment 3031642

Yesterday was when I noticed the roots popping out definitely showing that its time for the final transplant. So what I did was cut down the sides of the cup to just open it up and get the whole ball of soil out for the transplant.View attachment 3031646

The final pot! Filled with the Miracle Gro potting mix. Moistened down with a mixture between the NSR boost and NSR Grow. Which again I have been cutting it 50% with water compared to recommended by NSR. I started this after I recognized the burn noted before. I assumed it was burn because I couldn't find its symptoms in the list of deficiencies. So I am assuming it must be calcium overload or something.View attachment 3031651

I'm still maintaining Temp between 70°F and as high as 79°F with lights on. Lights off it drops to ~63°F. Humidity level at a happy medium of ~50% - 60%.
I'm trying to check out these pics but the attachments are "invalid" :???:

Subbed! Love the setup you've got going! Hopefully that mold hasn't already spread to the roots! I'm on my first grow as well!

Here's the burn that's only on the bottom two leaves =( View attachment 3031652View attachment 3031654
Since I noticed this burn I have been cutting the nutes half with water. NSR boost and NSR grow. Still balanced to 6.7-6.8 pH
pic on the left looks like calcium def. pic on the right looks like PH problem. Check the PH draining from the soil after you water it. PH & Calcium problems kind of go hand in hand. Calcium should be delivered at 6.2+PH. Only calcium that I use for feeding purposes is from dolomite lime which is acidic so check PH before watering.

I don't have experience using Miracle Grow, but from what I have read is to stay away from it. Get a soil like Fox Farms, HP, or make your own. MG = bad. You can never flush a problem away because any time you water, you are releasing nutrients. So any time you add nutes, you are doing an equation with a potentially adverse variable.

I like your grow closet. Its pretty neat. Looks like you did some researching before diving head first.

I have just used cubes for seed for the first time recently and I don't like them. I will be sticking to holes I make in the soil from now on, as I have never had a problem this way.

I thought so but I couldn't get much info on it. I will definitely try scraping that away and see how deep it goes. Thanks so much for the tip

Thanks for the info Morbid. I've read that I can dissolve egg shells in some water to add some calcium. I think that'd be a cool way to make up for the deficiency.
Also I will try the runoff water test and see if the soil has raised the pH on me. From what I understand it should be 6.7?

I have other soil or can get some organic, would it be advisable that I transplant it again?
Now you have me thinking if I should use the NSR nutes at all because of the soil strength.. hmmm

Will do and thanks man! I'm glad you guys like my setup. I'm pretty proud of it :] haha

So did the runoff test this morning and the water was at 5.0pH.
I flushed with roughly a 1.5 quarts of water set to 8.0pH. Runoff raised, but not enough, only got up to 5.6pH. I'm very nervous for the first little baby! I'm definitely going to go get an organic soil mix when I get out of work. I also want to continue using NSR nutes after transplant as well.

Thanks you guys so much, you really saved her before the fun even started! :peace: <3

Organic soil is always a better choice...do you know what kind your going to use? I wouldn't feed them for a minute after transplant..let the new soil do that for you

Oh...and make sure you add a little lime to the new soil before transplant...Good source of calcium and it keeps your soil pH in check :)

So I picked up "Vigoro organic pot mix" real quick from the home improvement store on my way home. I'll be good and not feed it for a day or two. Especially since there was still a large clump of the MG still attached haha

I really appreciate your help! I will keep that in mind, I'm still letting some egg shells sit in some water that I will pour in tmrw. I read this was a good idea for calcium so I'm giving it a go. If it fails I will definitely get myself some lime.

ok so today, I got out of work and ran to the store for some organic soil. That Miracle Gro was cooking the plant for sure. So I picked up some of this Vigoro organic pot mix.24920989_26091022_290.jpg I shook off most that I could without disrupting the roots but there was a large clump still attached to the roots. So I went with what MD914 said and fed with just water. I got a runoff of 6.5pH. Phewwwwwwwwww. It feels like a weight was lifted as soon as I saw that.

After I did the transplant I took two pics. You can clearly see how she was hurting =(IMG_20140325_183149.jpg

Oh and Idky but I decided to take a pic of the lights atm. haha its a weird setup hah.

I currently have the plant under the four 5k bulbs on the right. meanwhile I have the other two lower temp ones on the left above the catnip XD hahah This pic turned out pretty well considering how bright these bulbs are haha. The hole in the center of the reflector actually has a small 40mm fan pushing the air up. Idky I never mentioned that before. It actually does a decent job at pushing the heat up from the bulbs and towards the thermostat.IMG_20140323_221358.jpg

Any who, thanks again for the help guys and updates will keep coming quick!

Hello RIUsers. So she's getting larger :) IMG_20140329_154153.jpg

As I'm sure you can see a deficiency or burn here :\

The bottom leaves have officially gotten so crunchy and dead that I pulled them off. From what I understand this is still a calcium deficiency? I tried the egg shells soaking in water idea but hasn't seemed to help. The closest research info Ive found is using lime or getting some cal-mag?

Any help greatly appreciated before it gets any worse :(

Also I'd like to add that the temp is ~73°F and at the canopy will max at 79-80°F.
I did switch back to 24 hr light cycle as well after the transplant from MG to organic soil. For the first two days after the transplant I watered only with faucet water and some water with the egg shells sitting in it for calcium supplement. I also tried spraying the leaves with this water to attempt a quicker fix.
I'm also curious if this is could be caused by root damage from the transplant?

Lastly, last night is when I added water and then fed with the veg+boost nutes for the first time since the soil transplant.

Hope this helps someone who might know what the best solution would be

Those damaged leaves are going to die off...what you need to watch is your new growth. You really should have put some lime in your soil...you may need some cal mag but don't over do it...what kind of nutes are you feeding? Switched back to 24 light cycle from what :???: Sorry for bombarding you with questions...lol...I'm just in a hurry

PS "faucet water" is not distilled :)

Questions are welcome! Thanks for the quick reply too MD914! I switched to 24 hr light from 19/5 because of something I read from an RIUser. And as for nutes I've been using NSR veg grow and boost atm. IMG_20140320_131001.jpg

Secondly, does this still look like a cal def? If so, can small quantities of lime just be picked up at the hydro store? Or would cal mag be better?

Thirdly, the water in my area is not bad, I did check on that, but I'm guessing distilled is better? Is it required or just advised? I only ask because water distillers are expensive.

If anything I should be apologizing for all the questions haha

Btw nutes consist of 1 oz/gal. Boost goes in once a week, veg goes in daily. From what I read it's better to do standard water and then feed with nutes after?
