Hey all. Started my first grow with a Brain Damage auto strain. Setup my own DWC with coco/perlite medium. Using Aquaponics coco grow A+B nutes. Have added h2o2 and fu63 root stimulator. Now on day 21 after sprout. Growth has slowed a lot and few leaves down low look sick. Have no idea where to go from here. Have been adding frozen water bottles to res to keep cool. Mars hydro 400watt lights. Bottom leaves look like nute burn. No more new roots coming thru net pot. PH is staying constant round 6.0. Heard a coco grow should be little more than most hydro? Any help would be much appreciated.

Its early, im baked....

I am so confused right now lol.....im not sure ive seen anyone using coco with DWC.....im still kinda new tho, so what do i know lol

Wouldnt the coco just never dry out at all? Creating potential stem and root rot issues? not too mention all that coco and perilite finding its way into your pump/lines/tote?

From what ive gathered , DWC is done best using net cups and hydroton or neoprene collars . You dont want your stems sitting in a soaked medium constantly

Yeah mate, I know exactly what you mean. Usually hydroton from what I've read but got a mate with several successful harvests with coco dwc. Supposed to be easier medium to grow in. I'm learning on the fly. Stem is a bit week. I'm cutting back on the top watering coz most of the roots are in the res.

I don't understand how you're using coco and perlite in DWC... Your tank must be filthy... There's no point, just use hydroton.
Honestly it looks like it's had a hard life... Also 400w won't cut it for an auto, they need powerful lights to yeild well.

You see how it's all squashed up like that.. That's the Blurple light... I've just thrown one away, they aren't very good especially for bud density but worst of all they make your plants shrub up like that

Hey mate I don't think you can use coco in a DWC, won't the medium filter through the pots into your solution where your roots will be?

I wouldn't of thought the medium being wet would be a problem, the roots are submerged in water. Wouldn't the issue be the coco falling into the solution ? I don't understand how you could use coco in one?

any medium being constantly soaked wont allow for disolved oxygen exchange, roots submerged in DWC or RDWC always use air pumps or waterfalls for this exact reason, keeps the DO at maximum levels and the roots thrive.

Atleast thats how i understand it lol

Thanks heaps for the feedback. Surprisingly res is very clean. Lights are mates spare ones. I have a cob light too, should I just switch to that? Part of learning I guess, will do it different next time. Is there any way of saving this one? Still got another 6-8 weeks.

I got 2 oz off a auto grown in soil under mars hydro 300...actual wall watts are 130.
