Nice I'm going to go ahead and experiment with that now then...want to make sure the conditions are right when my babies start sprouting :P

Not sure how micros go but this should be fun! Looks pretty legit so far! Hope they pop soon. You might need to invest in a couple computer fans. Have you thought about how you're going to light proof it yet! You should look into lst or scrog I found out the hard way when you switch to 12/12 for flower the stretch HARD!

I agree about the fans...right now I am keeping the temp at a good level but I have a couple 45 watt 65000k CFLs and Y-splitters in the mail. They're probably going to raise my temp some. Luckily I can keep the box in a room that has air conditioning. As for light proofing, I plan to cover the lid with Mylar today and remove the aluminum lampshades inside. I know they get pretty hot when they've been running a while so maybe this will reduce the overall heat I have to battle with too. Just started seriously considering LST today! Seen some great grows and considering the limited space, will probably be the way to go.

LST is an effective tool both for training plant and getting to know how plants grow.

At big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes is a product call Reflectix. It's bubble wrap covered in mylar, just like the windshield reflectors, and it comes in a roll; easy to cut to size and great for reflection/insulation.

Happy Growing!

Would have saved me a lot of back of forth and perhaps a little money if I had know that before! Glad I do know now though...if this works out I'll definitely be needing more :P

I'm LST'ing my current run, trying to double the number of legit budsites this time.
I feel you on that...it just seems the way to go with CFLS. You have to keep them so close to the plant for it to really benefit from the light...might as well have an even canopy to work with! Definitely am going to experiment with training...want to have a short wide bush full of tops.

So I took a look at "scrogging" (Screen of Green) thanks to DO3SHA mentioning it...and it seems like an awesome choice for a small indoor grow. I found an AMAZING link with tons of info here. At first it seemed intimidating especially since I've never really grown before, but I am going to commit to doing a lot of reading and checking out people's journals. The results that I've come across are great and I'm really interested in growing herb horizontally since I don't have much vertical space. It's Day 3 of planting the seeds in seed starting potting soil and putting them under a dome. Nothing has sprouted. Again they are from some pretty garbage weed so I don't know if that has an influence. Planted about 20. Also put six in a wet paper towel in a ziploc bag last night. I will be receiving some "named" strains hopefully by next week, just waiting on the seeds :) I wanted to experiment before they arrive but these shitty seeds are acting like they're not going to sprout...or I'm just too excited and impatient. lol. Not going to lie, I've been checking on them several times throughout the day. Trying to keep myself busy with research!

you might have to veg longer on the scrog, but it pays off in yield at the end, its the best bet ive noticed and seen when growing without hps/mh and only using fluorescent because of light penetration and your able to get the bulb closer at an even height

Yea. LST has been great but I'm going with scrog FOR SURE next time! I like the even canopy and the wire to hold up their big buds!

Yea the longer vegetation kind of sucks but you're right, will pay off in the end. I was worried about getting an even grow with the CFLs so scrog seems the best option naturally. By the way DO3SHA I loved your 3 Plant CFL post, learned a lot from your grow. Do you have any in the works?

Your first journal grows were the ones you did LST right? Reading that thread got me really interested in training! Couldn't believe how great those plants looked. If I had more space I would def LST but considering I'm doing the storage box going to go ahead and try scrog. When's the next time you're growing?

Yea that's my LST... I plan on growing again in like July I'm leaving my current state and moving / vacationing. So after all that is back up I'm gonna do a much larger scale with some scrog going on!

Damn that's whats up! Well hopefully you'll document that grow for us :) Love seeing grow threads, seeing yours and a couple others made me end up choosing to make an account here lol

Ok so I made the transition to two Sterilite 35 gallon boxes. This is what we're looking like now:

For the most part, it is dark and if stealth was a major concern I'm sure I could find a way to hide the light completely. Also, went ahead and installed an "exhaust" fan (4x4 or 120mm). Been reading in a lot of places that if you for some reason only have one fan to make sure you use it for exhaust as it passively aids in intake. Keeping an eye on my temps but so far so good. We'll see what the temp's like when my two 42 watt 6500k babies come in the mail :). Bought an extra fan just in case and this will give me time to hunt around for an old phone charger so I can get it powered up and going when I need it. I have to say, it's looks a lot better than the small oscillating fan I had strapped to the bottom square with electrical tape lol.

Still have plans for the old fan though, might try to work out some way to get it in the box and circulate some air but space is kind of tight! Also, I put a stocking over the intake cut out because I noticed a dog hair or two in the box (might be hard to see but is there). Heard pets can carry a lot of stuff that can kill your plant so cheap solution to potential disaster.

**Sorry these pics are so damn big. I resized them on photobucket but the forum is still showing them -ucked up.**

Back of my box...I have a new love...VELCRO. Holds powerstrip fine, even with the heavy AC-DC adapter on there. Also am attaching the top box to the bottom with velcro. Allows me to use far velcro'd side as a hinge and lift box. I'm all for not having to drill holes, especially since I have no power tools lol.

You can see how the velcro is holding the back side fine. I'm going to get creative and make some kind of kick stand for the point where the boxes meet because I can see myself being high as hell in my little garden and having the top close down on me lol.

Now for some exciting news...my constant and obsessive checking of my grow box has resulted in this:

Woot, 1/20ish bagseed. LOL. Glad wasn't depending on that to be my crop. Guess I'll have a play around plant while I wait for the real divas to get here =D. Any day now!
