First time grower, Here is my setup and I have a couple of Noob questions :)

First off, This is the best damn community i have seen on the net so far! You guys are an amazing wealth of information!

Now that the butt kissing is done, here is what is the bulk of what i have picked up so far

Sun Hut 4x4x7 (weighs 29lbs)

And of course all the pots, duct, etc to go along with this all.

So here are my questions

Will I be safe hanging a 30lb bulb/ballast combo light system + 10lbs fan from the support bars of the SunHunt Tent? The shop owners said it is ok, but just want to make sure.

I assume i should try and suck hot air from the top of the light source, then exhaust it to outside the tent. I have seen some guys recirculating air which seems kind of weird to me.

I plan to grow at maximum 12 plants in here. Is this unrealistic? Would nine sound a bit more realistic?

Would nine sound a bit more realistic?.........well if you go sea of green, then you can stuff up to 1 short indica with top nug only every 0.1 sq ft but youd prolly wanna go bout 1 every 0.5 sq ft with most all lower growth clipped. so all energy is divoted to the top cola. so 32 plants in there would work nice. may need to add a lamp or grab a higher wattage flip light.

whoa whoa whoa. I was thinking that because you got a 7 footer that you would want to be growing to a 4 or 5ft plant. Obviously 2 or 4 colas. I would say you wouldnt want to go over nine with that light.....if you want dense nugs with a tall plant. Probably get like 4-6 oz off one plant 4 ft tall.......

I assume the Hood is the reflector?

The system i got is an all in one system, the ballast is connected to the hood.

I will probably be returning this

it's a clever system MH or HPS be nice for full growth, MH for veggin and HPS for budding but like i said with out a cool tube or some kinda cooling on the light it self i fear your gonna burn your plants up. dealing with that now 400watt hps with no cool tube and it's a bitch to keep the room cool i have to leave the door open.


over slept 3 hours/door closed and one of my plants got burned pretty good

Im considering just scrapping the project, and picking up a 400watt system + cooltube for veg and a 600watt system for flowering.

GOnna be be pricey, but im sure its worth it

SOG is great for smaller places. but you probably want some tall ladies huh?
