welcome to riu.org, bro! :hump:

get 600 watt metal halide bulb. best thing for veg and then switch to a 600 watt hps for flowering. use lumatek ballasts because they can handle both types of bulbs. get a hydrofarm reflector hood. get two wall mounted fans for air circulation. get an inline fan and charcoal filter to remove hot air from grow space and scrub out pot smell. grow in 3-5 gallon containers with fox farm soil and purchase earth juice nutes: grow, bloom, meta-k, microblast and catalyst. get some grandma's unsulfured molasses for carbohydrates during bloom. get some mexican bat guano and jamaican bat guano to make teas during veg (mexican) and bloom (jamaican). get some neem oil to wash plants with and prevent bug problems. get a 24 hour digital light timer. get ph strips. get a light meter. get some spring-loaded scissors for harvest. get a heating pad, tray and plastic dome for cloning. get some razor blades for cutting clone ends. get some sterile gloves for harvest.

and i'm spent.

hey, he never said what kind of budget he was on. :bigjoint:

Depends on the money you have to spend, and how many plants you want to grow. The best possible lighting you could get is a metal halide(MH) for vegging and a high pressure sodium(HPS) light for flowering. If you wanted to go a little cheaper you could get Compact Fluorescents (CFL's). The MH/HPS are pretty pricey, the light I am going to get is a 400 watt hps and I am going to put 12 plants under it, and it costs around 150$ for all the necessary parts. Other than MH/HPS/CFL's the cheaper lights are not as good, if you look at my grow journal I am growing 4 plants under two 48" fluoro tubes just as a kind of first grow cheap attempt, I literally spent no money in it cause I found the 10 dollar light for free in my garage.

Dude you obviously haven't done any research of your own at all.
That is a main question which requires you to do some reading and learning. It doesn't really take that much.

You need to decide how and where you wanna grow. How much are you gonna grow? How many plants? Where do you live? Apartment? House?
Do you have nosy neighbors? What's your budget?

Fluorescent light penetration is not the best, but it has its advantages, especially if you grow indoor of if you don't plan on growing more than 2-3 plants. I grew bigger plants with like 4 CFL lights than some people grew with 1000W HP lights and MH conversion bulbs combined. Just check out the pics https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/199715-looking-ready-macro.html . And that plant isn't even done yet, that pic is 2 weeks old.

The thing is I don't have any moneyyy:sad: and metal halide and hps bulbs are expensive...so is the fixtures I have 2 fixtures and 2 red flood lights and I was looking to grow at least 4 plants. But I heard floods burn the plants given the wattage.im very anxious to grow these plants so any advice?? I have no moneyyy lol get back to me thanks guys and toke uppp:leaf::clap:

If you cant buy some quality lights, and nutes... dont waste your time.
Save up your birthday money.
This little hobby is going to cost you some money up front.

OP What do you mean by red flod lights?

If you don't have much money just buy a cheap 400w HPS with a grolux bulb. Grolux bulbs have a lot of blue so they will do for vegging.
The ballast and housing and bulb can be bought for only about 200 dollars.

TBH if you cannot afford just 200 dollars find another hobby ;-)

4 plants...400 watt hps/mh or sont-agro for tall plants.if they are small you could buy 250watt. you could go only with cfl's but its not the easy way cos you have to change the distance all the time and youll need some of these.before you grow you must read a lot of things.check faq.

i think its better to go with just one plant for a start and use 100w cfl.its cheaper.just youll need 6500k for veg and 2700k for flwr.thats all .good luck.
