First time grower indoors with natural light, I need suggestions and your best tips!

Hi,

I am a first time grower, anxiously awaiting my seeds that are en route. I don't have a lot of options to be honest, other than to grow indoors under natural light. I have a main window that gives good strong direct sunlight for approx 6-10 hours a day give or take on the weather. I plan to grow ONE seed into a personal stash for myself only. I don't want the smell to be overpowering, and I also need an extreme amount of discretion. I don't want to use any un-natural lighting or chemicals if I don't have to, and I would love to hear your BEST tips and suggestions for me.

Questions I need answered,

First off though, is there a way of getting seeds from your current bag of green? I haven't been able to find one in any of the bags I have bought over the past couple of years...and believe me, that is a LOT of pot without a seed. If there is a way...I need to know lol. I would love not to have to order through online sources and take from what's already mine.

Please don't think I'm a doorknob for asking questions that might be insanely and ridiculously stupid.

1. Is the odor going to be over-powering or even noticeable from ONE plant?

2. If so, what is the easiest, cheapest and most efficient way of eliminating the odor?

3. Can I successfully grow an indoor plant with no un-natural light sources?

4. Approximately how much green will I produce with ONE seed?

5. How tall, and how wide can I expect this plant to be, and is there a way of keeping it to a minimum size to reduce visibility?

6. I am going to need to stash this plant away at certain times, or "hide" it when certain people make appearances at my home, what have you found is the BEST & safest hiding place for your plant?

7. What kind of soil will I need to buy? Are there any additional soils/miracle grow-type products I should invest in as well?

8. Can I plant my seed in a typical planter pot? If so, will it need to be moved to a bigger pot, and at what stage?

9. How long before I can expect results that are smoke-able?

10. And last but not least, how do I go about getting seeds off of my own plant as it grows?

Okay so now that I have completely exhausted every question I have... send me all of your best little tips and things, I appreciate it!

Thanks!

break your weed down when u smoke it roll that shit up!!! if you find some u do if you dont you dont.
when u first start a plant it needs at least 16 hours of light a day,

1. Is the odor going to be over-powering or even noticeable from ONE plant?
Yes depending on strain and where your growing it. If its in your living room you'll smell it.

2. If so, what is the easiest, cheapest and most efficient way of eliminating the odor?
Move the air outside by window and a fan. Also car air fresheners like sea breeze are good for about 4 days at a time.

3. Can I successfully grow an indoor plant with no un-natural light sources?
Yeah. If you are trying to get descent yields I hop you are growing in a sun room.

4. Approximately how much green will I produce with ONE seed?
Maybe none, If it's a male you'll get no herb.

5. How tall, and how wide can I expect this plant to be, and is there a way of keeping it to a minimum size to reduce visibility?
Not unless you plan on making the lights turn off before the sun decides. Otherwise you are looking at a plant that will be growing until October.

6. I am going to need to stash this plant away at certain times, or "hide" it when certain people make appearances at my home, what have you found is the BEST & safest hiding place for your plant?
That depends on your house or apartment. Buy a large Rubbermaid tub and make it look like storage.

7. What kind of soil will I need to buy? Are there any additional soils/miracle grow-type products I should invest in as well?
Something with low nitrogen and good drainage.

8. Can I plant my seed in a typical planter pot? If so, will it need to be moved to a bigger pot, and at what stage?
Yes. and If it gets too big yes again.

9. How long before I can expect results that are smoke-able?
flowering in 12/12 takes 2 months-ish. Vegging is your choice.

10. And last but not least, how do I go about getting seeds off of my own plant as it grows?
Must have male and female.

You might want to learn about growing marijuana before you start growing though. You are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay of base for what will be a successful grow.

The bud either has seeds or doesn't, nothing you can do after the fact is going to change that. All you can do is diligently look and hope to find one, hehe.

1. Is the odor going to be over-powering or even noticeable from ONE plant?

some plants smell more than others. A flowering plant can get quite pungent though. For a single one I would think a deionizer would work, though a carbon filter would as well. Ozone is the best odor control, but overkill for a single plant.

3. Can I successfully grow an indoor plant with no un-natural light sources?

Yes, lots of info online about how.

4. Approximately how much green will I produce with ONE seed?

From 1/4 oz to a pound or more. It really depends on so many factors. A good first goal is to get 1 gram per watt of light you use (this takes most people a few crops to achieve).

5. How tall, and how wide can I expect this plant to be, and is there a way of keeping it to a minimum size to reduce visibility?

Depends on genetics, but they can get large on the extreme. You can prune it and bend it to change height. You can pretty much flower when you want, so you also have some control over natural height. In a way you really decide this, but keep in mind it can take a few crops to get a good feel for everything.

6. I am going to need to stash this plant away at certain times, or "hide" it when certain people make appearances at my home, what have you found is the BEST & safest hiding place for your plant?

This is less than ideal. Especially in flowering, you don't want to disturb the plant, which means NO source of outside light in its dark times. Also the room you grow it in is very likely to have a lingering odor... If you have to stash it, a large cardboard box works, just make sure it's light sealed, and that you keep it in the box for the whole dark period.

7. What kind of soil will I need to buy? Are there any additional soils/miracle grow-type products I should invest in as well?

Too many to name. You want something slightly acidic (~6.5 ph). You will want to add some perlite to improve drainage, but not so much that the soil drys out in a day. There are several premium brands that you can usually find at hydroponics stores.

8. Can I plant my seed in a typical planter pot? If so, will it need to be moved to a bigger pot, and at what stage?

Yes, I start in small solo cups, move to 4" peat pots, then to 1 gal pots, and finally to 5 gal paint buckets to flower. The key is not to let the plants get root bound. Part of this is just experience, but 1 gal usually works for me up to 24", over that I like to move to the 5 gal.

9. How long before I can expect results that are smoke-able?

Depends on how long you veg. Flowering usually takes 8-12 weeks, though it can take less or more time depending on strain. Seedling stage is ~2 weeks, then you need to veg. The longer you veg, the larger the plant, and *typically* the more yield you get.

10. And last but not least, how do I go about getting seeds off of my own plant as it grows?

You would have to pollinate a female to grow seeds. Keep in mind that by growing seeds the plant will not produce large potent buds, so it will reduce your yield. Most people who breed will have a separate male (taking special precautions not to transport pollen on body, vents, or clothing), and collect the pollen to target pollinate a portion of a female bud. There is a lot of info available on breeding online, I suggest you do some research if interested.
