Did I switch it over to early? I just want to see the prices start to finish before I worry about increasing yields. Everyone I know says wait till it's 12" tall.

I have for lights the are the 2700k but one of them is the light I was using for the veg state (white light) is this going to be a problem?

Its actually good from what I read to keep a mix of 2700 and 6500 k for the first couple weeks into flowering stage. Would think the same as the sun not and instant change in spectrum , a gradual transition.

yeah plus they are still doing some 'vegetative' growth during the first couple weeks in 12/12 so it makes sense to still provide a light spectrum that encourages that type of growth / development.

Looks like a happy plant 2 me. When you flip to 12/12 is a preferential thing really...some people start on 12/12. Basically the longer you let it veg the bigger it's gonna get - but you can do it whenever...

It doesn't look very big, not that size really matters, but it doesn't look topped either. I would suggest looking into topping and some trimming tricks. When you use fluorescent lights it's best to keep the canopy wide and have lots of mains. I would have topped it at least once before you ever went to flower. Like you said though, it's all about learning at the beginning. There is a great YouTube video on topping, cropping, super. Cropping, fiming and so on. It's by Chef Derek Butt

Ya it's small for being in veg for just over a month now.. I've had three 100w cfls over it and a t5 17w that was given to me by a friend.. So I'm guessing I'll need to pump up the lighting next time around!

I looked into topping and definitely plan on doing that next time! I just wanted to see all the stages first. Will I still be able to get something smokeable off something this small?

Some say you can top in flowering, but read up on it. It is not advised by alot of growers, but the Cannabis plant is remarkable at jumping back.

You are going to get something smokable, it's just the quantity will be low, and as almost everyone will tell you, the lights are they key factor

your good check this out i grew 9 tops just for shits and giggles you can 12/12 just about anytime you want not to say that it all works out.. this was taken from clone to 12/12 after 2 weeks of cloning. practice i say 4 weeks left 230wIMG_4977.jpg

Yeah they are looking good man especially with not too many CFLs, im Running a 15 bulb 450 actual watt CFL set up and im getting pretty good penetration. Try adding 1 or 2 200 or 300 watt 2700k bulbs to it, it will instantly give ya about 5,000 additional lumens.

Wow, those are some nice looking plants! How long have you been doing this? Lol
I started my first of any kind of grow in january . since then i think I'm at the 5k mark on equipment. i am crazy about this but I'm not a yield grower just a personal grower.. i have since jan grown ebb and flow ebb and flow/dwc dwc recirulating dwc i built and soil/lava mixture. i have tried almost every method since january and i don't get why so many have problems.. i mean I'm not perfect and not gloating but i did learn if you keep it simple and follow simple rules of gardening. everything will be ok..
heres my advice
1. clean equipment
2. veg n bloom dirty food. no brainer here no worry about anything
3 beneficial biologics.com sea green and rootementary
4. remember if you want good but your money should be spent on lighting.
5. closet grows = proper ventilation
6. let your plants tell you when its time to eat or feed.
7. always if using ppm which i don't look at anymore. seedlings 20-100ppm with a bit of cal max few weeks old bump up to 3-500ppm now remember ppm if using any kind of organics will be high.
i guess people just need to relax.. if you buy soil that has nutes in it only water until your plant tells you it needs food i see so many overdosing of food and water on here..

again this is a newbies method here.. what you see here is my 2 mothers who get a daily few hour break under this large t5 i take them out of tent during first 6 hours of cycle so they can enjoy larger light and cleaner air. the flowering one you see is getting her roots washed today since i run organics in her ebb/flow/dwc bucket. so she gets a bath today. she is a bonsai plant but i untied her a week ago.. sorry for bombing your threadIMG_5121.JPG IMG_5122.JPG IMG_5123.jpg IMG_5121.JPGIMG_5122.JPG IMG_5123.jpg

Wow those are nice looking plants. My final goal is to just grow 1 seed at a time, just to not pay for smokeable bud anymore.. I've looked into a single 400w hps light with cfls to kind of add spot light.

My final goal was to invest around 500 to make a decent one plant grow room. So far I feel like I understand my plant and what it needs.. I just need more light now.

Thoughts? 400w to small? I could bump it up to a 600w.

I would definitely suggest a 600, but with a good digital ballast which allows more then a single dim. Also choose a ballast that can be used with hps or mh. Then you can switch between hps and mh depending on whether your in veg or flower.

Height has nothing too do with when you should flower your plants....it's when the nodes on the branches start to alternate ...that's the right time to flower for best yeilds....growers flower from seed all the time with great yeilds but it is strain dependant....happy growing

What's a single dim vs a multi dim? I figured I would just run the lights either on or off.. Do you change light intensity based on space available or heat?
