For starters start real cheap and just learn from the plant. Use what you have already in your house cfls or flo tubes and just soil and a seed. Your going to make mistakes but not as many if you do your homework. Read my man. I started 5 years ago and am still reading and learning and the more I read the better the bud get after every grow.

I disagree 100%. Only because I started the same way indoors, completely unprepared. Snatching shit up as I could, when I could to just get by. Now all that shit sits in a pile in the corner of my grow room, useless. Everytime I look at that pile I think, what a waste of money and time. In hindsight I would have done it all differently. I would have been PREPARED before starting my first indoor grow and not throwing bad money after bad money.
Now when I help someone set up (IRL) I don't even mess with it until they have saved up enough money to get a tent, a real light system, soil, and nutrients.

I used Nirvana to order seeds last year, no problems at all. I did not see a lot of CBD strains though, but that might have changed. Read up about harvesting later in the harvest window -- that can change the characteristics of the high, which might suit your pain relief needs. I would get femininized seeds for a first grow -- it's just one less thing to worry about.

You mentioned that you've grown veggies before, so I think you'll find that your first grow will be relatively easy because you've got some plant street smarts already. I had my first two plants in the bathroom with Phillips Grow Lites (cfl) so they were monitored closely, until they outgrew the space and the lights! They didn't produce a lot of bud, but it was a great learning experience.

I think growing your own mmj will be a nice distraction/hobby too. It has been for me, and I've come to realize that I only run into to unfixable plant problems when I try to take cheap ass shortcuts (recycling my soil from the *last* grow -- BIG MISTAKE). The rest of the time the plants have been very forgiving.

I wish you the absolute best of luck with this. I watched a friend deal with his MS and I know it can be really tough sometimes.

You guys have all been awesome. Thanks for the help and the warm welcome!!!
Is there a seed seller that any of you would recommend over any other? Unfortunately, I live in Missouri in Kansas City so it's not legal here...

I will check out "Nirvana". I hadn't checked them out yet.

Thanks for the info about going cheap. What would you recommend getting for my first grow then? Equipment wise? Is there a size tent that is better than others for future use? Meaning I don't want to grow to much, because I don't want to sell it, ever. I have my own house. I, like many people with MS have become a sort of hermit. I don't feel like having many people over. So that takes care of people seeing/smelling the MJ. I just need to make my money count. I would love to make my lights I have work, but if they won't work, or there if there is a better way, I would like to know from the beginning.

I understand entirely about soil reuse. Indoor plants I always start fresh. I throw my used soil in the garden and add fireplace ash, and am growing winter radishes to add nitrogen back into the soil for my spring garden. I used to spend a ton on my garden, but now I am figuring out how to live on a really cheap budget.

I suggest Attitude's. But I recommend not getting the guarantee. If you get the guarantee, you will get them replaced if they are snagged.
Unfortunately, it just seems the guaranteed packaging gets snagged all the time, where as the letters generally go right through. Up to you though.

Herbies is known to be reliable.

Sannies is known to be reliable.

several others I am sure other people will suggest.

If you use Attitude, pay close attention to the promos. There will be one in a few days, but I personally think it sucks.

Im 330 pounds, played football til I was 21 and can lift a lot of weight, when I do a soil grow indoors, in a tent, I dont like moving pots of soil because it sucks. But since thats what you want to do then more power to ya. A 3x3 tent with ur lighting, a carbon filter/inline fan, 4 5 gallon buckets, and the soil/feed regimine you are already using will meet your needs. Seeds you will just have to research because everyone has their own top 5.

A lot of good advice in this thread. My opinion is if you are going to get a tent get a bigger tent than you think you will need. A 4x4 or 5x5 would be good. A bigger tent is easier to get things in and out of, to reposition things in, and will allow you to expand your grow/add lights in the future. You may find yourself needing/using more MMJ than you think especially if you are growing CBD and making it into edibles (I recommend it). You don't have to use the whole footprint of the tent to start.

When you research CBD you will find some people saying all you need to do is let the plants over-mature to get CBD. This is NOT the case. Plants that over ripen produce CBN (degraded thc). CBD is genetically determined. CBN does have medicinal benefits like helping you sleep as Silly String pointed out. A strong indica that is grown to full maturity would be best for that IMO.

I have ordered seeds recently from Seedsman and Original-SSC with no problem. SSC currently has a promo where if you buy a 3 pack of CBD Crew seeds you get 2 free CBD Crew seeds. That along with an indica or two of your choice would be a great starting point IMO. I recommend getting stealth and guaranteed shipping.

Edit: just saw your question about lighting. If you get a 5x5 you will need a 600w or a 1000w HPS stand alone or you could supplement your current lights with a 400w. In a smaller 4x4 space would be tough to add supplemental lighting so a stand alone 400w or best would be a 600w HPS.
My recommendation would be get a 5x5 with a 600w, use one of the LEDs for supplemental in the tent and use one to maintain your mothers/clones.

I also wanted to point out that because ruderalis is generally high in CBD, and ruderalis genetics is what makes autoflowering strains auto flower, autoflower strains typically have higher CBD content than normal strains that aren't bred specifically for CBD, so an autoflowering strain might be a good thing to check into. I have no experience smoking or growing autoflowers however, so if anyone has more info on ease of growing, potency, etc. please chime in, I just thought it might be a viable option for a first time grow, especially since you wouldn't have to bother with light cycles, ruderalis is naturally tolerant of a wider range of weather conditions, and it is a naturally short plant making it easier to deal with. Just a thought, I could be wrong but I thought i would throw it out there and see if any of the experts can offer more firsthand advice for or against it.

Just read a lot of stuff on this site, some of the growers on here would be the best you are going to find to on the internet, there is a massive section for medicinal patients, good luck with it all hope you can help your pain out and see the true potential of Mary Jane :)

have had a 3/3 success rate with marijuana-seeds.nl, that's all I'll say.

Just wanted to say as far as a tent go's yeah they are nice but......I am on my third grow and have had no problems I grow in my shed. I have a 1000 watt cool tube and an adj electronic ballast ( I usually go 500 all through veg and switch to 1000 when I go to 12/12) As far as soil it is absolutely worth spending the extra cash it will directly effect your yield and since I only grow 4-5 at a time and need to get as much as possible per plant. The other thing to consider is getting a cloning machine ( I got mine for $60) very easy and you will always get females when cloned from a female. You will make your $ right back when you no longer need to get seeds you can just keep your favorite strain going all the time. I suffer from chronic pain due to god throwing a mini van at me head on on my Harley doing 40 mph...Vanilla Kush is my favorite strain thus far but I am still testing as many as possible...LOL....Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought about a cloning machine. I thought like other plants I could just get a cutting and put it in water? (works great for tomatoes btw) A cloning machine may be worth it.

I am prioritizing right now. I think I'm going soil on my first grow. I already have a heat mat and light rail 1641_6126_large.jpghyv-10919_2z.jpgfor germination. I think I am going to buy a fan I can hang from my ceiling. Add a carbon filter when the blooms come in, and get a lighthouse tent when I can afford it. I have a room in the basement that only has one basement window. Easy to black it out. I will use my T8 - 4 lightbulb fixture for the first few weeks. Then switch to the SuperNova.

The SuperNova is a pretty cool light. I'm surprised I never here anyone clamoring about it. You can turn up or down (from off to superbright) the intensity of the red/blue bulbs separately. http://www.hidhut.com/led-supernova-270w-enhanced-spectrum-led-grow-lights-p-1759.html?osCsid=b8b43c10fbd16cdda57d676b046c1e2b

Thanks for the info Sunni. That is my sisters name. Spelled exactly the same. I thought it was wierd and had to make sure she wasn't stalking me, lol.

I did do P90x for a while and my favorite was Yoga. I can't really afford another beachbody program at the moment. I am jumping into another workout program at the moment though. My biggest problem is my arms have a pain that interferes with lifting sometimes. My weight training was going really well 6 months ago before my last flare up. I have to use wraps to lift weights now. It gets scary when your arms twitch making your grip contract when lifting weights. Sometimes I just can't stop laughing about it. Now I get to start all over...... I take my health very seriously because I have been told by my doctor use it or lose it.
