First time grower setup advice.

Looking to grow for the first time, Looking at growing 4 plants in my attic, I have been researching for a few weeks now and it seems the more I do the hazier my thoughts get. Below are links to what I'm thinking of getting. Trying to keep it quite low cost, low noise and low odor due to me not having a lot of money and living in a mid terrace house.

Carbon Filter

Intake Fan

Oil Radiator

Appreciate anyone who takes the time to look at this and any further suggestions or replacements to the above.

Thanks in advance

How cold does it get? Having an open hood will create a lot of heat inside your tent, but if it's cold enough then it could balance itself out. If it's really cold, maybe you could get an adjustable 600 watt hps and you wouldn't need a closed hood either. At least this way you could dim down to 400w for veg, and go back to 600w when flowering. Plus, 600w = more yield. Get yourself an oscillating fan too.

Fantastic, thanks, looking at these

With the above tent and carbon filter. Will I still require the intake fan? I presume so

If you have an exhaust fan, just do a passive intake. But if I was doing a passive intake I would take ducting and run it out of the two spots on the bottom of my tent. It would allow 6inches-8inches of air passively in,this would be easier on your tent and help prevent light leaks. When lights are out you would have to either close your vents so you don't get any light in or close them and possibly put quite a bit of pressure pulling the tent in. Running ducting a few feet away would prevent light from entering and doing two should allow enough air to not destroy your tent. After this if you still have problems with your tent being "sucked in", you can get an intake fan. I just wouldn't waste the money just yet. You will still need an inline fan for your exhaust setup.

Fantastic help guys, will set up with a passive intake and also use the ducting also, will run it for a few days checking my temps and adjusting from there. Will post pics once I'm up and running.

ditch the small tent

look for a 1.2m or 2m x 2m depends how big your loft is

look on ebay you find tents for almost nothing even for a huge tent I`d rarely pay over £100 for it

fan`s I`d go with a 6" or 8" box fan for the out and a good carbon filter, yet again ebay a good one is like £30 to £100 new or used or never used, people get told by the wife "get rid of that you`re not growing them here" all the time so loads of cheap grow crap on ebay

Lighting yeah a 400w or 600w hps maybe even a 1k if your in scotland you could just blow fresh air into that tent and use a fan to push all the hot up high for your extract to take out

Picture all your plants in a circle with the bulb hanging in the middle or use a parabolic reflector this is your best bet for hps and your set up is ideal for pumping hard lights as your in a cold country

in summer when outside gets over 20/30c you may have to cut back on the lights this is why a bigger tent is better as it`ll move air around better

but there was a guy selling induction lamps very cheap in the uk on ebay I can give you his link I think he had 40w/ 100w and 200w lamps, I brought his last 300w lamp

5000k induction with a small Hid light or some 3000k or red leds works very well

and you may want the heat inductions can kick off, there not as hot as hps but they give a nice heat, a bit like t5`s or other tube lights give off, thing with them is the lamp is still not hot enough to burn you if you touch it

That or go with some cob leds every loves them

So are you going hydro, soil or coco or what ? you running a hose up there ? I never fancied carrying loads of water up to a loft and I hate to think what happens if you get a water leak up there, spill trays

Good luck mate !

I'm going with soil as it seems the best option for my space, no water up there so will be transporting that from the house, shouldn't be too difficult just for the 4 plants in pots in a large tray, heard the fabric pots are quite good so going to give them a go. I've got plenty of room up there but the roof comes to a point with a max height of about 1.8 metres. Looking to upgrade to an attic tent which also comes to a point and would enable me to make full use of the height but they are a bit pricey. Will put most of my profits into some better equipment and I will also hopefully have a far better understanding in growing also. Is it wrong that I'm so excited? Haha

use your lights on one side and let your plants grow towards them, I`m guessing you have a classic loft with 2 walls and then 2 open sides that angle down ?

Lights on the north side, air blowing across to the south side, plants on the south side

or one lamp on each wall and air flow across the middle

yeah fabric pots are great also very easy to carry into a loft before fill them

Plastic bag pots are great for veg as they cost fuck all so you can cut them when transplanting

Get yourself a hose and a water butt or just a 60l to 200L waste bin or a big truggs you can mix up your water up there it`ll be easier.

Any problems holla, I`m london ways but I know what we can and can`t get and do in the UK sometimes dealing with yanks you realize they have all kinds of shit we can`t buy, but then again we have some stuff they can`t get too
