get at least 6 cfls for your first grow or first couple grows.. dont worry about buying expensive lights, nutes, soil.. etc.
make sure cfls are not touching plants but REALLY close like an inch or two
switch to 12/12 whenever you want! when you do you want 2700k cfls for that.. at least 30 real watts. (found a 4 pack at Home Depot for around $10)
Have fun and learn by doing it yoursef and seeing how these puppies grow.
enjoy. http://asset2.rollitup.org/smilies/weed2.gif

My room-mate and myself are attempting to grow some plants. Once again this is our first attempt at growing.

We have 3 pots with 3 fifty plants around 3-4 weeks old. Were not quite sure if we are doing it correctly.

Setup.
-Miracle Grow. (Moisture Control )
-3 flower pots with drainage holes on the bottom
-1 120V-60hz 20W 300mA S-N Self-Ballasted Lamp
-1 120VAC 60hz 390mA Helical 26W
( the two lights listed above , we currently have the Self-ballasted lamp in, were not sure what light would be better to use)

We have it in our close with the light on all the time, we water it about 2-3 times daily depending on the soil dampness. We are beginners with little to no idea on how to continue this project. Please help would we glady appreciated
Ditch the Miracle Grow, get coco coir from an indoor grow shop.
get a couple of cfl bulbs that add upto about 70watts e.g 2 bulbs x 35watt, these bulbs need to be around 6400K or 7200K, these are good for veg, and then get the same but with a K value of around 2700K - 3200K these are for veg.
Watering 2 - 3 times A DAY???? wtf man chill out, water once every two days and dont drench them, thats what i do and they are fine.
Gunna need some nutrient for them aswell some get some veg and bloom nutes when you get your coco coir.
Temps need to be around 25 degrees Celsius.

My grow is VERY basic for the first one. And that is how I intended it to be. I have enough knowledge to go and make my grow room look like Dexter's Laboratory...but that isn't my goal. I wasn't trying to start anything I was just correct whoever made a false statement. You on the other hand nailed it on the nose. :) You don't have to do anything different aside from me all I ask from you and EVERYONE on RIU is to stop feeding people BS. (That excludes you haze, you didn't give him bs)

HAAAA, bro youre the fuckin dumbass thinking you know everything, shut the fuck up thinking your correcting me, your wrong n need correction yourself, you didnt even give this kid any info bro! lolol your a bitch thinkinng your all cool and slick with your piece of shit "VERY" basic first grow, .. im on my first indoor grow and i started out by watering my plants in some shitty MG soil till they drained a lil...i realized growth could deff be faster so..i switched soils and added perlite, after i gave them less water, i realized a big thrive in growth, my comment makes perfectly good sense, if the soils too saturated, roots wont be able to push through as easy if they are properly watered, not all soils will have this problem if there's good aeration in it like mixed with perlite or small pebbles, but shitty soil will deff slow root growth slowing plant growth, AND THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE YOU FUCKIN BIRDDD. and if it doesnt go eat some more garbage

naa dude i wouldnt reccomend watering until the water is running out the bottom, that means the soil is too saturated which makes it harder for roots to penetrate thru the soil, thus making the plants stunt in growth....

read my long ass post i left.....and i am on my FIRST grow now, i just did my homework for months before, consulted with many professionals and experienced growers and took in the best info i could...from the looks of it, my first grows going pretty fucking sweet..

Off these two quotes and your last post you are obviously immature and definitely inexperienced. First off the reason you saw tremendous growth was because after starting your plants in MG (NOOB MISTAKE) you decided to go ahead and invest in some FF Ocean forest. A much better blend and with the added perlite you added airation to give the roots more growth. As for watering goes, you always water until it slowly starts to come out to the bottom. The reason being is you want your roots to search for moisture. If you only drop a little bit of water your roots will only grow up or as far as the water penetrates the soil. If you truly consulted with REAL professional growers they wouldn't recommend only using superthrive. With that being said, they also wouldn't recommend going out and spending a ton of money on lights, centrifigual fans and all that jazz. They would tell you to start off basic and get in tune with whatever strain you are trying to grow. The only information I gave the kid is to start of basic. Don't get too fancy until you actually have your plan completely figured out and ready to go. I am sorry 62Blunts but maybe you need to start smoking some real dank
and stop being so hostile but until then have fun with your expensive ass set up and your mediocre harvest.
