Why not spend 20$ and get a 150watt HPS dude? CFL's aren't the way to flower. I'm telling you. you will get results, but nothing dense. Nothing compared to how much a HPS would do.

You can keep the 14w and use them if you want wont hurt anything. But yeah get at least 23w's and depending on the number of plants you want to grow will decide how many bulbs you will need, but 4 for one plant is plenty I've had good results with that.

ill decide later on whether to use cfls or an hps. but for now i just have to wait on my bro to get me some seeds. someone (parental) found the seeds germinating and thought it would be funny to throw out the seeds and put catnip on my bed.

As far as the HPS, I'd like to know where you get one for $20 yes you can get the bulb for that much, but you cant just plug it in, you need a ballast.

You can get a 150w HPS Home security light and take it apart and rewire it remote ballast and use that... thats what I do. Cost about $90.

As far as Ventilation get you some computer fans, and dryer vent tubes. Cut holes install one computer fan to exhuast air and one to blow air in. I get 120mm ones at radioshack for like $9 a piece and wires them up to a 12v charger I also buy from radioshack. add the Dryer vent tubes so no light can get in through the fans.

I like to use both CFL's with a daylight spectrum and HPS all the way through the entire grow, that way you cover all the spectrums needed. Just watch temps with a HPS they can get hot, so you may want to build a cooling tube for it and keep it high enough away from the plants.

It requires some modding, and you do need to buy some kind of reflector, but personally, I know 3 people who have had closet grows, and had good luck with that.

Just have patience, thats key with growing ppl get impatient with the speed of growth add overwater or over nute the plant and in the end just make the plants growth slower or kill it. So take your time and let the plant tell you what it needs.

for some odd reason when I open it, the price is $9,999 lol... u talking about the little security light thing? It's the same thing I do, i just never found one for $20, cheapest I found mine was at homedepot for like $90 they also had 150w MH security lights you could do the same thing with.

Patience I was born with, luckily. So basically for reflectors within the Rubbermaid bin, what should i use? Tin foil lined throughout the whole bin? and hang the lights from the lid?

no do not use aluminum foil or "tin" foil, it creates hot spots and doesnt reflect the light evenly it has a about a 70%-75% reflectiveness . look for a reflective chart i know its here somewhere, but i use Mylar its like that material used to make those shiny birthday balloons but that has a 90%-95% reflectiveness and is easier to deal with cuz it doesnt wrinkle and rip really. Foylon has about 95% reflectiveness but thats a little more expensive. hope this helps happy growing
